Think his brother in law is no longer in the biz. I'm sure you could order something online.

Was always handy, so that helps. Also, the right tools are essential. You can't be afraid to fail, if you screw up, do it again, its cheaper if you do it twice than hiring someone. Last but no least, the forum is where all the knowledge is. Pretty amazing, bright people here and very talented.

I ended up having my left knee replaced about two weeks before Xmas - now I have a matching pair. Still doing PT, a few more weeks hopefully, don't have all the flex I need yet. That'll come in time, hopefully.

Trying to scrap up some money to finish out the theater. Still sitting waiting on insulation and drywall. I think what I spent so far getting it to where it is now cost me more than the other completed theater.

My son is now a freshman in high school and is sitting varsity, we're suppose to play in the district championship tomorrow and that's pretty much consumed my spare time since June. Then off to regionals, sub-state and state if they get that far. The team is 27-2 and is now ranked #2 in the state of TN for AAA, but were ranked #1 up until the second lost. He's already signed up for two leagues this spring and another traveling camp in June. They went to a bunch of colleges and played in tournaments last June - including several days at Ole Miss where they played against a pair of seven footers and beat them twice. Pretty proud he's gotten this far as a freshman, should be a great next few years for him if he doesn't get injured. He's close to 6'6" - he turned 15 Thanksgiving week. Only about 160 though.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Great news about your new knee and your son's team! Tell him to hit the weight room hard...my biggest regret as a former college basketball and baseball player. I was 6'5 and 150 when I had my freshman physical. Didn't have the ball handling skills to play the 2, was undersized (under weight actually) for the 3 and forget about the 4 that I routinely played in high school (and dominated at least in my own mind!).

Good advice. I've got him working with a trainer off season, he's really dedicated - he just loves basketball. He was working with him during preseason and in two months he increased his vertical 2.5 inches. I'm hoping he can put on another 20 lbs before his sophomore year.

David(Dgage)has been to a couple up in Virginia and North Carolina. Unfortunately, I have always had work conflicts and couldn't attend. Maybe with three of us in Knoxville, we should look to plan one in 2015.

Hi Bud,

Sounds like I'm pretty close to you in West Knox and would love to meet up with you and Coach for lunch sometime. As far as a GTG, my living room theater is in transition, yeah that's it, as my focus has been on starting a new subwoofer business. But I've helped Coach with his theater and sounds like we're both pretty advanced DIYers. If I can help with anything, PM me. For lunch too.

Here are the subs and stands I built for Coach...his room is so sweet now.

Darin,

Darin, having pinball as a primary hobby is a little weird so you should fit in just right. I was thinking the 4 of us could get lunch sometime soon. I'll send you a PM with a link to the secret handshake and we'll need video proof you've mastered it before we can hang out. By the way, my main hobby is starting projects...if I could just find a way to finish one.

After a few posts, we didn't say much more.

Surprise! I'm alive and well.

I was at Home Depot at lunch looking at insulation. Going to take another run at finishing up the theater before my kids get out of high school. Had that second knee replaced and am at a good point where I think I can wrap up insulation and drywall before the spring. My father-in-law finished the prelim electrical, I just have to run a few more wires and move forward.

Originally speakers where Ascend Acoustics. This time around they're be the Triad Silvers (assuming they still make them, been a while).

YEA! Good to hear you're still doing well Bud! I'd love to go through another build knowing what I know now. Would love to see what you've got in store.

Are you in Knoxville? My youngest will be attending Johnson University in the fall, so I'll likely be keeping the road warm between NoVA and Knoxville!

So what's up with the non-formaldehyde JM fiberglass insulation. Why is it that nasty brown now? I guess its been a while since I even looking at insualtion. What am I missing? I'm sure its itchy as hell still. Did the formaldehyde make it pink?

Ran my speaker wire this afternoon. Have to pick up some RG59 this week and I have to run the wiring for the cans for the coffered ceiling. Going to take a final look at everyone one more time to ensure I have everything in order then I can insulate.

A little more progress today. Ran RG59 for the dual subs, ran some electrical for the cans and rope light in the coffers. I'll have to buy some more 12/2 t run the back rope lights, but thats should wrap up most of the rough in electrical work. I still have to run wire from an outlet in the wall to the bar/counter in the theater room, I guess I'll be busting up some concrete in the near future. Hoping to start insulation soon. I want to go over the plans throroughtly one more time to make sure I've got everything covered before closing up the walls.

Picked up a truckload of R13 and R19 today at lunch. Not all I need but a good start. Also picked up the needed 12/2 and two 2x4s. I think I'm going to order some putty pads as well, I could use a few more.

The drywall I'm going to have delivered and put in the basement, I don't care what it costs, I'm not going to bring it in myself. For double drywall, I'm looking at 64 sheets of 5/8.

See, told you I was working on the theater. Anyone from KnoxVegas get drywall delivered form a supplier?

Dennis Erskine and others,

Question on the balanced audio cables to the front of the theater. What connectors are required for the cable? XLR to XLR? Male to female? I've been confused on this for some time. Another option is to run conduit through the soffit and run it later.

one vote conduit then run cable and add your own cable ends later. Or just run the bulk cable now.
