How did you go about getting that amazing black finish on your speaker cabinets?

The boxes are fit very accurately, they are sanded with fine sandpaper, used fiberglass plaster in the joints and primer before painting.

Talk to your local paint supplier about the primer and paint he recommends for the type of wood you are using.

BEF-NO - Not sure if you are still looking at this thread or not, but if so, can you please tell me where you got this wall paper from? I have searched everywhere online using the information in the first picture and I've found some cool looking stuff, but not this exact one. Do you remember where you bought it from so I can see if they still sell it?

@BEF-NO , incredible build! I am in awe of your abilities!

I saw the room dimensions you posted a while back, but what is your seating distance? Anything you would change WRT seating?

Thanks. I had already found the site, but I clicked through all of their individual selection magazines and could not find that exact print anywhere. I was hoping he still had a direct link or order form that he could send over to point me in the right direction.

This home theater is history. Got a job offer and moved ...

I thought I could start over, new house and new opportunities. This time I'm going to rebuild the garage that is in the house and make it to a new home theater

I will use a GoPro cam as a time-lapes recording of the entire construction process

Here is the view from camera,

Well since you still have the drivers, amplifiers, etc, it only comes down to the new construction. Have fun and we're looking forward to the new build.

All of the equipment has been sold, so I will start all over again But this time I will not go for DIY speakers.

Fun to see HT of the month returns, very fun that my old cinema was used as advertising Maybe the new cinema might be so nice that it can come as HT of the month

I have not had the speed I wanted for the construction of a new cinema, a lot of work and other projects has been in the way.

I have made me a temporary cinema solution. It works excellent, but is not the same as a good HT. I have a 5.2 setup and use a 70 " LED screen.

The setup:
Main: Arendal Sound 1723 Monitor
Center: Arendal Sound 1723 Center
Surround: Arendal Sound 1723 Surround
Sub: 2pcs Arendal Sound 1723 Subwoofer 1
Amplifier: Marantz SR8012
Blu-Ray: Oppo BDP-103
Streaming: Apple TV
Sub calibration: DSPeaker Anti-Mode 8033 Cinema
Screen: LG 70" UHD LED

Some pictures of the setup,

How do you like the top octaves now compared to the sound of the TPL150H in your last build?

I like the sound very well on the Arendal Sound speakers, they give a very correct sound with lots of dynamics. The tweeter I experience as very natural and open, without obvious S-sounds. The Beyma TLP-150H is an extremely good treble with lots of air, but the overall experience of Arendal Sound is extremely good.

Assuming there's a negation lost in there somewhere, but I understand where you're going with it....

Personally, I'm sticking to my loudspeakers' designer:

The biggest issue with the original HT build was its lack of portability even though it was a world class system. Now it's portable, excellent and makes him happy.

Looking forward to the next full HT build when there's the time.

Nothing religious about this, got a new job offer and moved on in life

The new HT has a much better room and will provide even greater HT experience

Cool! But I presume you will not be using that horizontal center speaker? And what about Dolby Atmos?

@BEF-NO , how do you compare the two speakers (DIY vs Arendal) on sound quality alone (dynamics, lack of distortion, impact, etc) ?
I would expect that the DIY speakers would comfortably outperform the Arendal?

The Arendals can be moved around as needed since they aren't built into the structure. Can also be moved to the next house.
