Wow! The S2 is awesome! I was playing around with it this morning with a demo disk and that thing had me grinning like a little kid on Christmas morning! Flight of Phoenix scene was crazy and had my pants flapping. I had to show the wife so she could see what the big deal was about the JTR subs. I want to try and take some measurements today. I will post them if I get around to take measurements.

I took some measurements but something is clipping in the chain and I think it is the sound card. I am going to have to purchase a better one and report back my measurements.

I wish. Wife said that I am done for now on home theater stuff. I would like to add a S1 behind the seats though.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard that one.

And brother, let me tell you I will hear it again. Yet the gear still shows up!?!

How???

I have built a shoe closet, and paid her to fill it. Purse and hand bag storage racks, filled them again. And I green light jewelry.

Plus I dangle a white sandy beach vacation, but save it for when I plan to get a 4k projector. cool.gif

The key is look like you struggle buying those things, but then to come out the hero, and say "I know how much this means to you, but I don't see the need".

Hahaha! That is awesome! I will have to try something. I do not really need anything right now, but I would love to have a second sub so it is less localized. The S2 is so powerful that she would not understand why I would need another sub.

I finally figured out how to tune my sub correctly and also got rid of the cheap calibration equipment and purchase a cross-spectrum labs calibrated mic and a new sound card. After a few hours of learning, this is what I came up with.

No smoothing
Auydyssey is on
dynamic eq is off
dynamic volume is off
mic is a main listening position at a 90 degree angle from the sub at just about ear level.

I turned down the ULF because it was just too much for my house and the amp. When they were not turned down, I could just about get it flat to about 5 hz! Even though it is still turned down, I have vibration issues that I need to take care of.

Over all, I am impressed and have never had a sub dig this deep.

I'm a little late but you've got a really nice room man. If you can find a way to get that second sub, you'll be in heaven. And those wood floors look spectacular. What kind are they?

Thanks buddy! My seats are all along the back wall and the bass carries really good to all seats, but I would like a second sub. The floors are real hardwood but I have no clue what brand they are. I can't even remember what color they were called. I will have to dig up a receipt and look because now you have me curious as well.

I think it was you at the meetup a couple weekends ago that mentioned that you watch everything in 2.35:1 using your Lumagen processor. How do sports (specially football) look when stretched in this fashion?

Travis as well. I'm the guy that is currently looking for a house and making a room-to-build-a-dedicated-theater-in a requirement. :) Talked a lot with you and AVTEXAN near the end.

That picture looks good.

So does the lumagen crop the 16:9 overspill?

There is no overspill when using CIH. It performs a non linear stretch for 16:9 content to make it 2.35.

Sorry if this is a silly question, does that mean it chops the top and bottom off or does it squash the image to fit the height

If you are changing a 16:9 image to 2.35 you will loose a tiny bit on top and bottom. Not much and really not enough to notice. It is non linear so the stretch is not a 1:1 ratio, but the picture is not distorted or warped for that matter.

Check out this video from @BrolicBeast to see it in action. The Radiance is pretty nifty. Great explanation on setup of the unit in the video as well. There are 2 parts by the way so make sure to watch them both.

The Lumagen Radiance processors may be the single greatest investment someone can make in their ante-projector video chain. CMS, NLS, and a plethora of additional features make it one of the most versatile devices ive ever come across.

Thanks, the videos were helpful, so is this capability available across the lumagen range? Or do some do it better than others?

Matthewa, the only difference in Radiance's, is whether it has an integrated Darbee or not, and the number of inputs and outputs. The operating system is essentially the same in the $1500 Mini as it is in the $3500 XE.

I gotta find me one of these for a decent price. It seems like used ones get snagged as soon as they are listed for sale.

I use to see them all the time on eBay because I always have checked to see what they are going for. Last time I looked the prices have come down a lot. Try Videogon.com also.

AVS is a dealer too, so try them. Might be able to get a great price from AVS.

They are hell to come by on the used market that's for sure. Sometimes www.curtpalme.com has used ones. Mike at AVS got me a Radiance Mini for $1399 and $20 shipping. That's the best deal I could find anywhere. You have to call to get the discounts though.

The picture you see is a free app that you can download onto your iPad. Then you sink it to your pch. Then it displays your movies and you can click on them and read the stats and synopsis. You can also play a movie this way but that is all you can do through the app. I control the pch with roomie remote.

So it works pretty well? Anything you don't like about it?

Thanks for the info!

Works really good. I can go to movies and play with having to load a disk or wait for them to load in a blu ray blayer. If you are somewhat good with computers you can really do amazing things with PCH. YAMJB or NMJToolbox2 let you easily customize your media streamer and movie artwork.
