I built my DT 7 years ago and just did a receiver upgrade to denon 6200. How are DT folks handling Atmos? On ceiling speakers? My theater is already built so boxed in-ceiling speakers is not an option.

If you have the headroom you can do a 4 1/2 inch cloud with an RSH speaker

Dynabox may be a viable answer for Atmos retrofits...

Assuming you can fish the wires to the ceiling location without cutting other holes.

I hung four studio monitors (identical models to the seven I have on the ground on stands) about a foot below the ceiling pointed toward my listing position. Im not sure how they sound, because I'm still waiting for the Emotiva RMC-1 processor to be released. My current XMC-1 is limited to 7.2. Hope that helps.

If you have serious soundproofing in place, you don't have to compromise it!

On-ceiling speakers are a great option, if you don't have the option to do something that protrudes in a "smart" (i.e., preserves sound isolation) way into the ceiling.

If you post a photo of your ceiling, with info about ceiling height and about what you main speakers are, I'll bet folks will chime in with specific model recommendations.

I started my HT in progress years before ATMOS, so didn't plan for them. I will install ATMOS, but I don't plan on cutting into the sealed room. I will use DIYSoundGroup Volt6 boxes that are only 6.125" deep. Keeping the sound isolation is more important than trying to hide the speakers.

The ATMOS speakers will be the only speakers seen out of a 7.2.4 setup with 6 subs. I plan to wrap the boxes in fabric and use fabric over the speaker so they aren't too obvious. Fair trade off for the improved sound.. I also like Big's idea of a cloud, but my low ceiling will not allow that.
