I am just starting my build but already own JBL Studio 590's for my mains, 530's for surrounds, am considering the JBL Control 226CT for Atmos. Thoughts on them for Atmos? I have done some searching and there is not much info out there about these.

Great theater!

Great theater!
My opinion the JBL's would be overkill for Atmos. They are awesome for surrounds especially when listen to Blu-Ray live concerts and other music. I am using RSL C34E's for Atmos and they work very well. They are angled design where you can aim them at seating area. I had a set for surrounds but they are not as capable as the JBL's at high output levels.

Some updated photos of room with equipment and the seating I already own. Hope to get designated seating in the next year or so. Starting on 2-PA460 MBM's driven with Inuke 3000DSP for mid bass slam!

Updates to my room added another pair of PA460's behind the screen and built a pair of B52 Angled Mid Bass Nearfields.

Latest upgrade! I am always thinking about what I can do to improve my room. I had done a fiber optic star ceiling about 12 years ago in a theater room with a recessed suspended ceiling. It was a lot of work, I ran 1000 strands of fiber however it was a suspended ceiling and I had access above with the ability to remove the tiles.

I originally thought about a fiber optic star ceiling in my room however didn't do it at the time because room was already finished and no access from above, plus I had my hands full the way it was. The other day I did some brainstorming on how I could make this happen. I checked building codes for the 2x10 joist above and the span of the floor above my theater room actually aloud for a 2x8 joist which would allow me to notch them 2" for a recessed ceiling in the theater room. I came up with an idea to cut the sheetrock out, notch the joists 2", trim the opening with oak, and use two 1/2" thick Styrofoam panels covered with black panel cloth and run the fiber optic cable through them. I left a 3/4" gap on top edge of oak trim so I was able to slide panels up in ceiling when done!

I also recovered my acoustic panels. I could start to see the edge of the 1x2 boards appearing under the fabric so I cut a 45 degree angle on the edge of the frames so the have a sharp edge like the 1/4 round on my screen. then recovered them with same fabric.

Upgrades!

If you followed my build I converted a finished room in the basement to a theater room. Because of a limited budget I kept the cheap existing carpet, used leftover remnants for the 2nd row platform, and used recliners and loveseat that I already owened.
Finally had extra dough to replace carpet with a darker super plush frisee, Octane Sonic XS900 top grain leather seats and installed Earthquake Bass shakers on each seat driven by a Inuke 3000dsp. The seats came with blue LED lighting around cup holders and on the base. The lighting on the base was to much for me so I removed it, and switched 2nd row platform and fiber optic star ceiling to blue to tie in.

So I have never put a number on what I have in my theater room. I didn't save receipts for materials so estimating liberally. It came out to be $20,500 including the $7500 I just spent on carpet, seats and shakers.
Of course I didn't figure anything for labor. So what do others think, did I do okay for a DIYer.
