soffit question

im confused on how to attach soffits. If you are your using decoupling hat channels . so if you hang the drywall on the ceiling screwed into the hat channels and same goes for walls. how do you add the soffits ? do they screw into the channels ? do you add another row of clips and channels for the soffits ?

add another row of channel where you plan to hang the soffit in addition to the one at 24 inches OC. Screw through the drywall into the channel. Where it runs perpendicular. Hit the channels where you can and add some extra screws just into the double layers of drywall. I have hung soffits gluing and screwing just to the double layers of drywall. But you need to keep it light weight.
