DMD/Executive Fabric options

Looking to get some opinions on some fabric options.

I really like the fabric called graphite, executive collection. But the fabric panels I plan to build will be in the range of 65-67" wide, and 20" high.
The executive collection only comes in 58" wide. So I will have to cut the fabric the long way to accommodate the frames.
I read in one of the threads to stay away from fabrics with patterns. However, by the looks of the sample I have, it doesn't seem like it would be an issue.
What do you guys think, has anyone used the graphite fabric, any issues?

The other option is the DMD Charcoal, it is also nice , but I feel the graphite has more life.
Since the theater is benjamin moore onyx and the trim and columns Onyx or Black. Carpet charcoal to black (twilight or pacific storm) chairs are black.
My wife and I felt the Graphite has a real nice contrast and offered some more depth.

Pics below.

Thanks

I also used it without issue. It doesn’t have any stretch. That is the only negative with it. Fabrics with stretch are easier to work with.

The DMD has more stretch than GOM and is the easiest Fabric I've worked with, The executive collection has no stretch.

Is there any sizeable concern of keeping fabric panel walls dust free? My wife seems to think that these will be a nightmare to upkeep. Thoughts?

The GOM fabrics are most commonly used as coverings in office cubicles, Pretty durable, they can be wiped with a damp rag and vacuumed if you feel the need.

I have two cameras in my arsenal, the first is my pocket Canon S120. and the other is a Sony original Alpha A100 digital SLR from 2006. Pretty sure that was with the Sony. They are both out of production but available used. I see an A100 on ebay for $70. The key to low light photography is a tripod.

here is one with my pocket Canon, handheld,

What is the GofM stretch compared to DMD stretch? Is the GofM worth $5 more per yard than DMD?

depends on which style of GOM but as a rule is has much less stretch. I'd say FR701 has 10 % of the stretch, almost none.

So which fabric is more desirable? The one with more stretch? Does one resist dust and is more durable than the other?

You need to get samples. They are completely different fabrics. I believe DMD has more stretch. I think you need to see them up close and decide what you like. I didn’t like the DMD weave. It looked...sporty. I like the executive and GofM better as it looked classier.

At least from pictures, the Orange DMD in that theater looks classy but I know the pattern up close was a little like gym shorts.

Blue DMD, excuse the semi finished trim, it lacks the final touch up coat. Gym Shorts?

I was really looking forward to the Graphite in the executive.
With with respect to the stretch, as a first timer using this fabric will it be a nightmare working with it over the DMD?
Or should I just stick with the DMD...for sheer ease of use?

Executive is easier than GOM and many first timers using GOM have survived.

I figured you hung it. Thanks for the pics.
Did you like the colour? How was it with lights off, reflective or dark enough to absorb and dissappear with lights off?

I was pleased with how it performed. You should really order a sample, I'm sure they would send you one if you asked. Only you can judge if it meets your expectations.

I guess it won't matter, granite is apparently out of stock. So much for getting panels wrapped in time for the holidays

2 weeks ago they said it was in, and then Yesterday they said it was out
I called again and they said they aren't sure when. Very frustrated since I was never informed and now I cannot get any answers. On hold with them as we speak.
James just told me now that it is in stock, yesterday Shawn said it was out of stock. Different answers depending on who answers phone.

Old thread with a new question.

If using fabric on the faux screen wall and for cloud panels in the ceiling, is there a performance difference in GOM and DMD as far as LIGHT reflection? I understand from reading this thread that both work well for their acoustic properties but does one reflect more while the other fades well into the dark?

Just saw your post
I have used DMD for screen wall and side walls and both worked out well, no issues
The DMD black absorbs light well but I have nothing else to compare with

This may be helpful-ish - comparison of black GOM Sensa 9218, black Castielle Suede, and black DMD. The DMD was blackest of these.

Photos taken under direct fluorescent light (under-cabinet lighting above my desk).

Taken from a post in my build thread where @bluer101 asked for comparison photos of the fabrics I'm considering - https://www.avsforum.com/forum/19-ded...l#post56090514

If you need an even deeper black, and the fabric is not going to have speakers playing through it, velvet is an option (if you buy the right velvet). The royalty 3 stuff at Joann's is @BIGmouthinDC approved...
