I think it would be a great idea to do maybe 2 or 3 awards with this. I don?t want to say it?s easy but when a person can dump $50k or something for a theater, yeah it better be impressive. But it?s not practical to rate a $50k+ against a relatively small budget one say $15k or less.

Me personally, I didn?t have a dedicated room. But I had the landing on my second floor which was a decent size 20?x15?. I turned it into a dedicated theater with 7.1.4, 120?, etc. It?s not a perfect solution since light bleed can be a problem, especially during the day. But it was what I had to work with.

I guess I would like to see some theaters that are ones people didn?t have large budgets or perfect conditions. But still see the really amazing stuff that some of us will only be able to dream about.

i don't think it's practical to do multiple theaters per month(sounds like a lack of options was what 'paused' this already), but I like the idea of rotating through categories. i know i've seen a 'budget' theater featured in the past, and i enjoyed that! might also be interesting to include a game/multimedia category for those that don't have a truly dedicated space, but still want that cinema experience in the living room or whatever.

from past winners, I trust that they can 'create' categories to meet worthy winners. I've seen theaters that cost more than my lifetime salary, and ones that are actually within reach! I've seen 15+seat theaters, and cozy little 2-seaters. basically anything that's been done very well, has a chance. Regardless of cost, or size.

i think the real issue is, since most of us tend to be DIYers, we never really feel like we're 'finished' and don't want to submit our theaters in a 'done for now' state. we're always planning the next thing, and looking for ways to make it better. It makes it tough to submit your current theater, when in a month you'll have a new projector/screen/wall treatment/etc...

Yeah this is a good idea I would like to see some other dedicated home theaters. This kind of gives me ideas of what I might do to mine. Hope it is not only nose bleed $50,000 theaters rooms. But some practical rooms also.

I was curious about those diffusers actually did not see the mammoth speakers . Yes ,I know it looks impressive but in a room this size I cannot seem to understand why this level of base is necessary . My theater room contains one SVS PC13 Ultra, one klispsh 12" , a total of 4000 watts peak and have the subs turned down to a fraction of rated in a 12X30ft room . I do use base shakers but still, man that is some serious potential . I cannot imagine unleashing the full magnitude SPL these are capable of if there are amps enough to back them up .

The room overall is really nicely appointed , I really appreciate seeing the work of others like this . It's a great resource to gather up plenty of ideas from the many wonderful theaters I see here , use in my own construction . It's what AVS and networking is all about .

Dedicated Theater: Sony VPL VW 885ES , Panamorph DCR & ISCO III L Anamorphic Lens, Draper TecVision XT1800X Screen, 2.40:1 134" diagonal curved , Denon AVR-X8500 , 9.2.6 Atmos, Panasonic UB900, Oppo 203, Lumagen Pro 4440 , (3) Paradigm CI Elite E7-L+C+R fronts, , (2) CI Pro P80-IW Rear, (2) Paradigm SA-ADP In-wall Surround, (6) SIG-1.5R-30 v.3 In-Ceiling, Subwoofers: (2) SVS SB-16 Ultra , SVS PC13-Ultra .

I think for a lot of us it's just fiinding things to keep adding or we get addicted I'm about to add my 6th 18 in the next month or so 4 of which are over 40 cubic ft horn subs. Do I need that much bass absolutely not do i listen to it full blast all the time no lol but is fun to show demos off that make you feel like your in a earthquake. I just got to hear eng 399's room last weekend and he has 4 21s and 6 15s and that was just pure craziness. I couldn't tell you if the screen was shaking or if the bass was blurring my vision but referring back to the past hotm I was more blown away by his LCR very nice components used and I'm sure they would be very dynamic

I agree on this one. I just had a new AVS guest over my place to experience my 6 18’s and 2 12’s and bass shakers and his comments were the level of bass instantly brought him into the movie instead of just watching it. The other guy said he had watched the movie 20 times or so, and because of the experience at my place he felt like it was his first time because of the immersion. That’s truly what makes these theaters ‘Home Theater of the Month’ contenders. It’s about a level of immersion you can’t get out of a multi-use space. I’m not saying great results are impossible, but I understand why this award is reserved for dedicated home theaters.

I to love this part of AVS it's cool to see some of the home theater rooms specially the ones that were built by the owners. I have a small space just bought a projector and a screen probably nothing that I would send pictures in but I tell you what I don't miss my pioneer Kuro one bit it gives you that feel of being at the movies you can't get that from a 60 inch TV. So keep it coming and Scott you're one of my favorite people on the AVS forum
