This has to be one of my favorite HTs I have ever seen. Just Awesome. All you need is a life size replica of R2-D2 and C-3PO.

Thank you for providing a quality product! (and helping to eliminate the ground loop issue a few weeks ago lol)

Funny thing about that is, the guy who I had cut the wall panels with his CNC machine can also do "3d" type prints. Meaning, he could take a piece of something transparent and cut it so when a light would shine through, the image would look 3d. Thought about having him do a replica of Han Solo in carbonite to put outside the theater lol

Now that I've picked up my jaw off the floor...

I bet it was quite a nice feeling to throw the switch for the first time and "witness the power of this fully operational battle station."

Newbie question

What happens to the sound quality of those big stand-alone towers when you put them inside the wall? Besides the auto calibration, is there anything special to do?

I'm not a big theme room guy but very nice job, especially the excellent framing job you did. The only thing I might have done different is using more of that space behind the screen for 2 huge folded subs, since you have the extra space. Not a knock just a thought. Great job!

This is absolutely fantastic!

jedi1982, can you comment a little further on the 1/2" MDF board techniques you used to create the death star wall look? Is the entire MDF wall spaced off the sheetrock with the 1/2" MDF strips as you refer to on top of that? Sorry if this is
a silly question. Just trying to understand how you got the LED lighting behind the paneling.

Good question! We created the MDF wall panel "frame" just like that of a picture frame out of 1/2" MDF. We then applied the actual 1/2" sheet of MDF on top of the frame creating a 1/2" gap behind. This allowed us to install the LED strip lighting creating the back-lit look.

I do! In fact, logging on now as the space battles are epic!

Another good question. Nothing happens to the sound quality as they are flush with the cutout opening, therefore aren't impacted by any obstructions.

Hats off on an incredibly beautiful Home Theater. Also, thanks for giving me the secret to get permission from my boss, which is, "I'm thinking about buying a Corvette" (in my case another motorcycle) which will surely lead her to suggest that the money could be more safely spent upgrading my Home Theater.

Let me know when visits are welcome and I may just have to get on a plane.

HT of the Month: The Force Theater

Patrick, your RL speaker mains sit outside your AT screen, like mine do. However I’ve got a solid screen.
Was that Shawn’s direction or your desire?

I’ve found the wide pinpoint imaging great, and 2 AVS guys who travel the USA visiting people’s HT commented about that on mine.

It’s caused me to re-think my going to AT screen and keeping my mains just outside the screen edge, vs on the 16:9 border like so many do because of masking.
My center would be behind the AT screen.

Great question! Part of Shawn's job when creating these rooms is to really take everything into consideration (goals of the room, acoustical properties, equipment, room dimensions, placement, seating, screen size, viewing distance, etc). Because he is the expert and knew I wanted to make the room sound the best it could, I didn't argue

I?m very curious about the audio calibration you went through. Can you describe what was done and how it changed the sound? I?m not sure how much control one has over frequently responses and that type of thing in a setup such as yours.
I see you have the 10x10 dsp
The 10x10 miniDSP was used to PEQ the system. You can control the frequency issues at the listening positions by using this device. The unit sits between the receiver/pre pro and outboard amplifiers.
