Room looks amazing.

Thanks, but what do you mean back roll? After spraying take a roller and go over it?

Exactly. If you don’t, your walls won’t have the fine texture that helps hide future touch-ups. I’m sure there’s a lot of advise online about this.

Quick little update. Tried out the paint sprayer and it was going really well. About a 1/2hr in after putting the paint sprayer down many times during that 1/2hr the last time I put it down it started pouring out paint from the nozzle and didn’t stop for over a minute. I was not prepared for that nothing to clean it up until my wife heard me cursing, she came to the rescue with some paper towel. Started painting again, working well then it started spitting globs of paint out, I put it down and it started pouring out again. That sent me over the edge lol, I was covered in paint, I thought this was going to a piece of cake and very clean way of doing it well I was wrong.

I contacted Wagner right away and they got back to me the next day with the solution, the spray nozzle was probably not tightened enough from the plant and it wasn’t creating a seal and it’s in the instructions to tighten it down oops didn’t read that part. I was skeptical that this was the fix so I tried it with water first and then I gave it a go with paint and WOW what a difference it worked so much better and no issues.
As of right now the whole theatre has been primed and I should finish the rest of the basement this weekend if not tonight and get back to the QSC build.

Mahuzz,

Question for you. Forgive me if you’ve mentioned in your thread - maybe I’ve missed it, but what type of power have you dedicated for your theater? I will have a similar load to yours, so I am curious if my power preparations are on par with what other similar builds are running.

Thanks in advance!

Aaron

Hey Aaron,

I have 2 dedicated 20 amp lines with 4 20amp plugs in my AV closet. I am also running 2 lines for 2 30amp plugs for 2 clone amps that are rated for 240v. I have a bathroom fan in the AV room which is hooked up to a thermostat that will activate when the temperature hits a certain temperature. I will have all my lights on a wireless system that will be controlled by a cell phone and iPad. All the controllers will be in the closet.

I hope that helps and what you were looking for

Duane

Yes this is helpful. BTW keep up the great work!!

I currently have four 20 amp circuits for my AV closet, and i'm slated to have 6 subs instead of 8, with similar speakers for surround & atmos.

Thanks Aaron

Tomorrow pick up another 5 gallons of primer to finish it off basement and glue, screw and cut out all the holes for drivers and ports the QSCs.

Why did you change for 8 to 6 subs

Haha, yes I just meant 6. I think I’m already pushing the WAF with 6 subs. 8 would have been an even more difficult spend to justify...

Ok so my wife has given the for having with a black ceiling, my challenge is I do not have a dedicated room it is open to the hallway to the stairs as you will see in the pictures below. So my question is where do I stop the black paint in the hallway, do I stop it at the screen wall which is where the small wall comes out and tape it off right across there. I will consider any suggestions. that is where I would stop the black

Maybe do 4' around the screen in black and the rest a gray? The Sierra Nevada theater in the dedicated section is a great example.

That is a beautiful theatre I’ve been following along. I have np going grey but then I have to carry it all the way through the hallway to the bathroom which I have np with that, I think it would look awesome with a dark ceiling through there it might make the ceiling seem taller

Are you doing the entire room black or just the front wall? In order to keep my room somewhat lighter, I used a flash light and screen/white sheet to try to gauge where the projector would reflect. All of the areas that the screen reflected to, I used a flat black paint. Below that I used a darker grayish color.

I went with black for my bulkhead. But my bulkhead split the theater horizontally.

A door in that hallway might be totally out of the picture; but I was thinking, if you had a door, or some kind of natural barrier, it could make the color transition very easy.

The door wouldn’t have to be extremely sturdy or beefy, a simple hollow core door and jam. Just a thought....

I have thought of having a doorway in that spot but there is a disagreement so that is not an option. I think I will go with a dark colour in the seating area and see how a white ceiling will be on the underside of the bulkhead. If there is to much reflection then I will repaint that area.

My QSC build is going well should have them primed tonight and hopefully completed ready for testing Thursday night.

With that being said planing for the future with the baffle wall that these and 4 10cu subs will be in. The front wall will be similar to what @Eng 399 Mike’s set was before he changed his Titans to dual 15s.

I can build the wall out of 2x6 around the QSCs but what should or could do with the subs, just attach the linacoustic directly to the subs.
Can anyone see a problem with this or have a different idea.

I was on a payment plan, took a little while longer than expected but I got it and super excited about the release of the RMC1.
Here is the link of the pasted podcast, they will have the capabilities of 28 channels, 4 dsp channels for subs, 8 atmos channels. This pre/pro is a a game changer at a reasonable price.

At the 7min mark it talks about dsp for subs.

I was really interested in the RMC-1 and it was my preferred processor but they kept pushing the release/sell date back. I ended up getting the Denon 8500H and a used 6200W to create my own "FrankenAtmos" (see forum member "Nallah" if you're curious) processor. It works well enough and if the RMC-1 lives up to it's promise I may very well pick one up in a coupe of years. I hear they are making a budget version that won't be expandable and probably minus a few other bells and whistles but as long as it is 9.X.6 that would be perfect for me.

Having a 40% coupon makes it a no-brainer! Your wall of sound looks intimidating
