Small Room - Need to make the most out of it!

I've been a long time lurker and I'm finally going to be building a house that will come with a media room. I thought I could live without one, but after watching some movies and football games at a friend's house, it's time I did my own. I need some help with the design though. Unfortunately, I think with the way the room is designed, I may be limited in what I'm trying to accomplish. I'd like to keep this under $15k for all of the equipment if possible. There is no dedicated space for a rack, but the southeast corner backs up to a massive closet that I could store things in if needed. Additionally, the wall to the north is an open game room. Any help laying out seating, speakers, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Check out my build thread linked in my signature, I have a 10x15’ room that I’m renovating for HT 2.0. I haven’t updated the thread yet with my current (and hopefully final) plan for the room layout.

How many people are you trying to regularly seat?

How wide is the entry? How long is the upper wall?

I don't see much in limitations, except a realistic seat count of 3-4 seats, and maybe
some limitation by what you have in existing gear. If there's no gear, then that
is a good place to be starting from.

I like small room theatres, and the creativity that they require. They also require accepting some compromise. In this case, what about a large L-shaped couch in the bottom left corner, which should give you room to seat (some sub-optimally) a fair amount of people. You'll be right up against the back wall, which isn't ideal for surround speakers, but it would also let you have lots of room for a bean bag "row" in front for kids, if there will be kids in here at all.

Wider approach might be better in this case because it leaves aisle space around the couch and allows the Side speakers to be far enough away to not be distracting (compared to speakers at your sides in a narrower 12' width).

I like the idea of rebuilding a double door opening, into a single door entry + a small feature wall, with an
embed a 32-40" hdtv rotated 90 degrees to display digital movie posters. Quality in-wall speakers and an
acoustically transparent screen , would complete the room. Four rocker style theater seats could get you
bodies in as little as 80" of width.

Small rooms can be rather cool, but are far more difficult to design well then larger spaces.
