Type of Insulation w/ Clips and Channel

I'm in the process of building my home theater and I am at the insulation stage. I plan to using clips and channel along with 2 layers of drywall and GG. My question is for the insulation should I go the Roxul Safe n Sound route, fiberglass route, or another route? To give context, the location of the theater is in the basement, and two of the wall are exterior concrete wall. Thanks in advance!

Any insulation will be fine. Insulation is the least significant element of the soundproofing process and the difference between something like the fluffy pink stuff and a product like Safe n Sound is also not significant. It won't *hurt* to use Safe n Sound, it's just going to be a lot more expensive for little benefit.

Any premium insulation in a double drywall, Clips and GG assembly is a waste of your construction budget. The damped isolated mass is doing all the heavy lifting.

Thanks for the reply.

To clarify, are you saying doing both clips/channel and GG isn't necessary?

Damped = GG
Isolated = Clips and channel
Mass= multiple layers of 5/8 drywall, a couple of my projects used 3 layers.

Do you need clips and channel with a decoupled room since decoupled would be isolated already?

depends, maybe, maybe not. You would have to tell me how each wall is constructed and what is on the other side, There would need to be floating ceiling joists to skip them on the ceiling

Yes plan is floating ceiling joist. Two walls would be cinder block exterior wall, one wall would be next to open storage space 15' wide and other wall would be next to another framed wall leading to finished space in basement, which would also have door entrance to theater.

Sorry if I'm semi hijacking thread, but I'm planning similar location and usage of green glue with two 5/8s as well. Were you doing floating ceiling?

No worries. I'm adding clips and channel to all the walls as well as the ceiling.
