Low volume issue after receiver swap

I recently replaced my Sony receiver STR-DN850 with a Denon X4400H over the weekend. My current setup has always worked fine 5.1.4 with bass shakers as well going to a separate amp (shaker amp). Ever since I setup my new Denon, my sub is barely doing anything as well as my shakers. My system hasn't changed other than the receiver, it seems like i lost a lot of power from my sub and shakers. Can anyone help?

Please make troubleshooting simple, as I am a intermediate av guy.

Thanks all!

Did you rerun room correction/make sure all settings were correct? Surprisingly they aren’t very “plug and play”.

A simple fix should be turning the subwoofer volume up.

Leave it at 8 ohms and call it a day :)

This sounds like the ‘audyssey killed my bass’ issue. If you ran audyssey, make sure your speakers are set to small, with an 80hz crossover or so, and the lfe trim can and I’d say should be upped about 3 or 4 dB. Also try turning off loudness management.

Do you still have the Sony receiver? You could check the settings on it and see how your current Denon settings compare to them.

There are a lot of settings in the Denon that can affect LFE volume. I have the 4300H and echo the comment it is NOT Plug and Play. You may even need to do a factory settings reset for a clean start. That is not described in the user manual but is in the AVS thread for that receiver.

If you do run Audyssey it has a nasty habit of deciding bass should go to the front/main speakers instead of the subwoofer/LFE Channel I would manually check your speaker settings, maybe even run the fronts as small, all that does is redirect the bass, and worst case turn up the level coming out of the subwoofer output.
