I've had a dozen of them (I own a lot of Kreg kits lol) not round over but crack and have the square head split off. Better to move to a higher quality impact rated bit - even though you shouldn't be using an impact driver to work with pocket holes.

If you could point to / link to a higher quality Heat Tempered long shafted Square Drive of the right size, that would be the best possible thing for all concerned.

Anyone know of an alternative to Logitech? The models I am looking at seem fairly expensive and I had rather not spend that much on just a controller.

Don't mean to throw this off topic but.. What would be a good value sound absorption material to put on the wall behind the baffle wall/screen?

All the others that do what you need to have done cost even more.

The trick is to find a deal...and sometimes that means going with a Refurb. What you can't do is go without.

Even at full price, purchasing the "right" Controller and Hub separately is often the way to go.

The trick being to know what Control does what...

Here's a good "all new" combo.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IAKLM54/ref=emc_b_5_t
https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Harm...dp/B00N3RFC4Q/

This would be perhaps the best of all to consider
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014PDFP9S..._wdg_tit_nw_mr

If you must get "something" for the least...get this:
https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-915-.../dp/B00ZYFUW72\

All will provide IR in-room for Projector operation, and RF/BlueTooth to IR for Closet Control.

Terribly old school. CroMangon even.................

It'll work...but the Receiver must be placed up front...hopefully directly behind the Left side Spandex wall, and the Mini-Plug wire might need an extension. Expect to see a bright flashing Red LED light whenever you use the remote. Annoying....

Don't take this wrong but IR Repeaters are really slummin' in a modern Home Theater.

You deserve a simplistic, touch-screen remote that doesn't need to be pointed at a specific IR receiver.

This is a "Smart spend" item.......worth the investment.

As you undoubtedly discovered, they aren't hard to find. Kreg makes wonderful tools - their drivers aren't among them...

If screw bits lasted forever why would they sell these at the contractors exit at Home Depot? I know for the intended application, drywall screw guns, that the tendency is to over spin the bits but still nothing is forever.

No nothing is forever. But I've had multiple Kreg bits split in half down the square drive. Never had that happen with any other manufacturer - worn down yes. But a bit that splits in half tells me that the quality is very poor.

I agree. They are poorly made. I have changed my technique based on @MississippiMan instructions. Let's see if this lasts longer.

Ok. I am probably buying the harmony companion. I cannot justify a $150 price difference for the elite when I have only 2-3 devices to control.

For total control and cool factor, I would go with a SmartThings Hub for Smart Lighting, etc., Harmony Hub (at least Companion), Amazon Echo device and a Tablet to run ActionTiles (frond end for SmartThings).

I really don’t have to control much in my Cave as it is all automated with voice control.

Buy in cost in relatively inexpensive and it’s expandable to the rest of your home. I have 4 Harmony Hubs.

The Harmony Companion does not have a IR function built in the Hand Cotroller, so you'd have to keep the PJ Remote handy for all it's IR control.

Where is the sense in that? You gotta know what will work with your situation and I'm trying to clue you in.

Just get this $249.00 Harmony remote at more than 1/2 off as a Refurb.

Or New at discount since it's discontinued.Go to...

The Hub has IR outputs where you can put a blaster right at the PJ by simply running an 1/8 extension cable to the PJ...

However, Elites are great remotes!

Tru dat...........but;

When one has their equipment at the other end of the Room, running a 35' 1/8" extension is just so....1990's, and totally out of the question in a existing location without access.

Harmony has/had RF to IR capability for many years, with almost all their better Remotes featuring IR + RF functionality. Only over the last about 4 years ago did they started to gravitate toward eliminating the IR function on the majority of their top tier Remotes, while introducing WiFi connect-ability and BlueTooth.

Brook no mistake, a primary reason for omitting the IR feature on newer, less expensive "Phone Compatible" models is to drive Customers to the Elite version....just as they did 4 years ago when they came out with the Ultimate.

So now you can still purchase at least two stand alone models that still have IR and upgrade by adding a Hub. But that has led many to mistakenly purchase less expensive Remotes that had Mobile Phone apps only to find out that the core Remote lacked the ability to deliver IR signals.

Why? Because the darn idjuts still consider (rightfully probably) the broader market where people are using the Remotes for Cabinet-hidden Equipment, and have a big 'ol Flat Panel TV residing just above said Cabinet as being their prevalent targets. Of course using a Blaster or IR extension can be easily accommodated in those cases. For all others....the ones who have already spent loads on real Home Theaters with closeted Equipment a-way off in God's country, all ya all gotta ante up.

Here are Links that help:
https://img.bbystatic.com/BestBuy_US...comparison.pdf
https://www.universalremotereviews.c...Chart-2019.pdf

It appears that the Harmony Ultimate Home and Harmony Ultimate One and Harmony 950 Advanced are the only Remotes that offer IR separately from a Hub...the Ultimate Home coming with a Hub and the 950 Advanced simply being a Elite sold without a Hub.

@MississippiMan I agree if there is no practical way to run the cable. However, if it is, then this is exact intended purpose of the extenders. The magic of the Harmony Hubs is that you press 1 button and everything turns on/off...It would drive me crazy if I had invested $$$ in a remote to automate operations but still had to manually turn on/off the PJ and/or equipment. If there is an equipment room then the Hub should go in there or close to it. That's the beauty of RF because it doesn't need a clear line of site and can travel through walls.

However, I am in agreement with just getting the Elite or Ultimate! I have 1 Elite, 1 Ultimate, 1 Companion and 1 HUB with a simple remote that can all work together through SmartThings. Although I am use to it now, the Ultimate has a weird layout while the Elite's layout is much more ergonomic.

Saying all that, I still find myself using the PJ remote when I am tinkering with the PJ setting and using the AVR remote when tinkering with the AVR!

@genaccmiller You will be happy with the Elite! However, if there is an option to run the extension cable, I highly recommend that you consider doing so.

Nice job.......I'd feel confident in standing on that myself...and I weigh 240 lbs. (well...maybe...) I suppose the Cleats holding up the top MDF platform could have been 2x4s instead of 1x3s, but I already know how securely you screwed everything together. The additional bracing you added certainly looks to have done the trick as far as preventing any "wobblety-ness"

The additional bracing you added certainly looks to have done the trick as far as preventing any "wobblety-ness"
Just to clarify the diagonal braces you see are the ones in the front panel. Do you want me to add these diagonal braces as well? It is fairly secure without them. Also I added the 1x3 bracing but to your point do you want me to replace with 2x4s?
