Help in choosing/how to use this space

Well after haveing this house for quite a few years and just useing the basement how it was when i bought it im thinking of redoing some of it and creating an actual dedicated 5.2.movie/gameing room. So thought id post up some pics of the space and get some suggestions on layout from the pros here if possible. Room dimensions 23 1/2 L,13ft W wall to supports 9 1/2 front of fireplace to supports,7.2ft H with drywall as is now.My initial idea was to build a wall where the support columns are and putting entrance between the 2 supports, putting false wall with at screen on end where the screen is now, seating with a riser on opposite side with shelving built into back wall for equipment(theres a closet on back side of the wall already i could use for access).building 4 columns to hide four surrounds on the riser. Unfourtantly there's a issues i ran into with this plan..the steps. With a wall built down length of room (where the columns/supports are) it only leaves about a foot between bottom step and wall. Any ideas or suggestions? Iv also got another room behind the back wall thats about 19 1/2ft long and same width as the room w fireplace but in the closet theres a sump with a drainage pipe that runs cpl feet up and out the wall in the closet id have to work around. Any ideas/suggestions gratly appreciated also Im on mobile so sorry if post comes out formated wrong.Click image for larger version

ya there is another fireplace straight above it in the upstairs living room. Upstairs has a gas insert the one in pic is wood burning if matters.

It's hard to judge based just on the photos, but it seems the fireplace isn't centered, so (assuming it isn't possible to completely remove the fireplace) perhaps placing the screen on the opposite wall could at least allow for a bit more space between the screen and the fireplace.

What would the size of the room be if you walled off from the right side of the chimney back to the supports and in towards the right wall? If you could wall that off, it might work for a dedicated HT space.

Another way might be to make a wall going back on one side aligned with the supports, and then do a false wall on the chimney side, so that you no longer see the chimney or windows on that side of the room. It could be then as long as you want to make it, though it will be a little narrow.

ya your right and thats how i had it when i had my old setup in there actually. problem with that is if i went 2 rows of seating. Front row would have fireplace on immediate left and be a problem with side surrounds(i messed up in both my previous posts supposed to be 7.2.4 not 5.2.4).That bottom step is also an issue because it would only leave like a ft between it and wall ran length of room so either have to turn bottom step or build a door right there. So Id also thought with screen wall on side its on now if i went with a false wall with at screen it would allow me to maybe have bottom 2 steps turned towards where the pool table is then on wall id build running down length of room(where the supports are) i could frame an access opening to behind screen where the steps come down to now for access behind screen as well as i wouldnt have a hard right angle to deal with if/when needed to bring anything big down the stairs. i could just remove the screen and still have a straight shot up/down stairs. Hope that made sense lol

think either of those ways would be extremely tight

Besides not really being able to soundproof because of the fireplace being one huge opening making it pointless(luckily im only one who lives here so not huge issue) i dont really think its too much of a problem as far as view although obviously not ideal. Going to post some test shots i threw up on wall for more peoples opinion on that. But the steps running right into where i want to build the wall down length of room is throwing me off so any opinions on my thinking of what to do about that i posted in response to Silva? Also going to throw up some pics of room behind that one(dnt judge its a mess lol). Maybe bring that back wall down from where it is now extend it about 5ft into room where fireplace is and use that space? Issue there being the sump which im including pics of.
