New House
Hey guys,

Ive just put a deposit down on a house that has a dedicated home theatre, the room is 4190 x 4230 and has a cut out in the wall for a screen 2600mm wide x 1800 high (if that makes sense), just wanted to know if this room is good enough for a home theatre with projector and dolby atmos setup or is it too small ?
I currently have a panasonic ptae8000 projector (may upgrade), but will need amp, speakers and screen, any recommendations on what products will suit this room ? I have a budget of 10-15k

Alternatively i can turn the garage in to a theatre but this will take a lot longer and cost way more ( i currently dont have the funds to do it in one hit.

13.8 x 13.7 ft room is small for front projection theater but I certainly wouldn't let that stop me If that is all I had. Plan for a single row of seating with seat backs 11 ft from the screen wall. There are examples of other small room theaters on this forum that have turned out really nice.

Definetely turn the garage into you're home theatre. You can get a lot done for 10-15k with some diy. You'd regret spending that sort of money and such a small room.

It sounds like the existing room is ready to go just add equipment and treatments. That can all be transferred to the garage later if he wants to upgrade to a larger space.

Thanks for the replies, I have decided to make the garage the home theatre, we don’t move in until end of January so plenty of time to plan. From reading through the forums building a room inside a room with staggered stud walls seems the way to go.
