My third and hopefully final theater build !

Hello AVS !! I’m a long time lurker in the forum and wanted to post some pics and progress of my theater build. 15 years ago I built my last theater and took some time from from A/V hobby and just enjoyed the room. After building a new house last year this is the final room to be completed. I didn’t spend near the time and planning ahead that I had done 15 years ago but I think it will still work out fine. Needless to say I was blown away by the technology and price improvements from my last build. It looks like I’m going to spend about 1/3 of what I spent last time and this will look and sound better !! I’ve attached a few pictures of how it’s coming along. One thing we planned out that’s a bit unusual is the back of the room will be a “game room“ with 2 PS4 and Nintendo switch console setups with 2 TVs on the back wall. The other “unusual “ setup I’ve going on is A Dolby atmos setup with all in wall speakers and 8 of them in the ceiling. I know this isn’t recommended but with the setup of the room we decided this would be best. I’ve researched quite a bit any thoughts of why this wouldn’t work ?

Not sure what else I should include here but I’m running Klipsch speakers and subwoofer. It will have the JVC NX7 projector and A Yamaha reviewer. I’ve included a few pictures hopefully they will load, I expect to be completed in the next 2 weeks. Cheers !

Great looking room, I like the finishes you chose, and the angled boards on the front wall is a nice different touch.

Thanks. It’s wood I found at Atlanta specialty woods. Basically reclaimed barn wood...they are finishing my wood countertop for the bar today and should go in tomorrow.

Looks like I won’t have time to add a small stage before carpet goes down. I’m assuming no big difference in adding afterwards. I’m thinking of using the reclaimed wood on the wall to cover the stage since carpet guys will be long gone. Any opinions out there ?

Carpet in. Wood countertop delayed not going in until Saturday. As everything comes together I think a small wood stage would look good. Also Talked to intersource star light ceilings today. They are going to build me some custom panels 3.5 X 3.5. Going to a add 7 X 10.5 star light ceiling directly to the drywall.

My initial plan was just to do LED lights around the ceiling of the room tucked into the trim but I’ve changed my mind. Click image for larger version

Very tastefully done - love the gaming/TV screens behind bar, really like the refinished barn wood bar top!

What is the brightness level of your 110" screen, just curious?

Looks fantastic.

Have you already calibrated your JVC PJ?

Comment: I am addicted to following the build threads - giving me so many ways to spend money. Need to win the Rob Hahn lottery!!!

Thanks I’m about 90% complete....actually that is a temporary screen. I have a acoustic weave screen that is stuck in China apparently and has been delayed.

Chesney54, do you have a close up pic of your ceiling molding? It doesn't look like standard angled crown, but more flat up the wall to an extended detail piece?
