Question. I can’t afford Linacoustic for my front wall. I have a lot of pink fluffy left over and could conceivably cover most of the front wall with it and cover it with some sort of fabric covering. Will that do the same thing? Could I just hang some blankets on the front wall? Other cost effective ideas?

HD has Comfortboard 80. I think you get 5-6 2x4' pieces for around $40. That should work a lot better than pink insulation.

Just a little got done today. Installed the rest of the lights and most of the outlets. Didn’t get switches done so will try to finish that up this week. After that I will start installing speakers in the ceiling and on the walls and install the PJ!!! May also build the rack...I need to make a list....

It’s happening! Got the call today that the carpet is in and they can install it first thing in the morning! Had a lot to do tonight with touching up paint, cleaning the room, rounding the edge of the riser, etc. Since carpet is in tomorrow, I can start working on the screen wall this weekend and assembling the rack and installing the ATMOS speakers. Man now that I think of it I wish I drilled those holes before carpet...

My plan is to start with the first Fast and Furious and end with Hobbs and Shaw (which I haven’t seen yet and have been saving until this was done). I have been buying and saving movies for about a year now waiting to watch in the theater...

Thanks everyone! Was anxious and set a few things up.

Just to make sure it all fit....

Went to install the door bottom and figured out it goes on the front of the door. Doh! I thought it went on the back and didn’t have enough wood floor for it. So had to rip that all up after I had the carpet guy stretch the carpet going into the theater and glue it down. It was a pain but I redid it all and installed the door bottom. Speaker mounts for side and surrounds are coming on Saturday. Need to paint and install baseboards and a whole long list of things! Also what have people done about this?!?

I have a 3 gang box in the wall but don’t want to chip the drywall away. I guess I could and then use base board around it???

I put the box in the wall because I wanted to have it flush and not sticking out. Looks like I might be chipping out some drywall and then covering it with some type of board?!? Or I might cut out the boards I cover it with. Actually that might be a better idea if I ever have to cover it up for some reason....

I put my automatic door stop in the middle of the door. It's most effective when you put it against hardwood, but in mine goes over carpet. Not much sound leaks out of the home theatre in my situation, so I wouldn't worry too much about the door stop unless if you have bedrooms on the same level.

That is what I did as well, mine was in the AV rack but the same concept could be done on the wall etc.

BTW were you going to put any speakers on the front wall LOL

Yep. I just needed 1 more inch of hardwood (faux snap together kind) to get it were I needed it and had it laying around so just redid it. It works well now and isn’t on carpet.

Yes! I love this. Now I need to see if I have some sheet metal in the shop and possibly fab something up. I might just get some wood and router out the back first to see if that will work.

I think you could easily fab something up in wood as well.

Another long day! Woke up early because I was excited to get working. Painted the baseboards. Painted my DIYSG speakers which I made years ago. Installed the baseboard heater. Installed all baseboards. Cut holes for ATMOS speakers - PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. CUT YOUR HOLES BEFORE TEXTURE AND PAINT! What a pain. Then installed speaker mounts and all surround and back speakers. Then cleaned up. I don’t feel like I got a lot done today. I hope to get the screen wall built and fabric sides done tomorrow.
