Hoot, my door seals shipped yesterday and due Thursday 2/19.
I ordered then slightly bigger and will cut to exact fit on site.

Soon there will be seals and improved soundproofing, right now my door frame is "naked", no stops/nothing, waiting for them seals!!

Handle side view from inside looking down ... Hinge side inside the HT looking down
.

Since waiting for stuff I kept busy making the crossover bridge for my cubscout Webeloes who are moving into Boy Scouts, 1st time I've ever built a bridge, in a basement yet ...Blue and Gold ceremony is tomorrow Thursday 2/19.

Perimeter and door seals done and installed!
.

Hinge side open and closed
.

Handle side open and closed, getting the max seal w/o hitting the door stop was a measure twice, cut 3 times affair, as I cut it slightly fat on purpose, it slightly hit upon closing, so take off and cut 1/32" off, and it then just barely hit, so take off and a smidgen more and now perfect with slight gap for humidity movement as its the dry of winter now.
.

My style points gripe is I paid for dark anodized seals to match the hinges, and they give me alum end plates.... I'm in email exchange with them now. In their material nowhere do they say "alum end plates not colored".

My door stops story:

I took off the stock Jeld-Wenn thin ones and ripped your std 1 x 4 pine board 3/4" thick x 1 3/8" wide.
Thinking was this will easily allow me to put a second seal there, like shown below.
If I do that, the second seal will be on the stop for top/handle side, for the hinge side it's actually on the hinge side of the door frame itself.

setting the DIY stops 1/8" gap from the door was not hard to do, made some shims, tape them to the door, latch door shut, gap is there and using brad nailer set the stops
.

I've got these seals from Home Depot:

Finished the astrophotography acoustic treatments art covers project.

Looking at these I do realize all of a sudden my HT went from a "clean look" to a sorta "busy/cluttered" look, well the stuffed animals on top the acoustic panels, now those are my kids things.
When the lights go off everything disappears except the immersive image and the envelopment audio, but now I'm having 2nd look at room overall aesthetics.

See it's a family HT, and the kids wanted to decorate it, so what the heck it's their memory also, for them to have.
We got the boys to clean up their bedroom, and move the stuffed animals in the HT, after 6-10 months they will go to salvation army....with kids approval.

The rear, yea well so I'm guilty of a little "stuff" there, that's why I built the corner broadband bass traps though, to have a shelf to display my Star Trek and Star Wars "stuff", need to prioritize what to show for a cleaner look.
Possible the pictures on the rear wall need to go....
Again, when the lights go off everything disappears, not like some other HT's that have LED lights around their screen or side wall panels, now IMO that would be a major no-no distraction.

Screen shot, it's a composite:

Rear shot: On the back wall that's Grand Tetons from our campground there 2014 out west trip

Entrance: On the 4 ft wide solid core door that's our home with startrails/fireflies

Left side; First row that's Mesa Verde campground Milky way shot during our 3 week out west camping trip (our campsite, car, trailer, my family was sleeping in there while I took this shot), plus the Lunar eclipse of 2015 from our home at 2 minute time lapse.
The 2nd row gets Star Wars and ST II: TWOK covers.

Right side; Moon at various phases, the 2 big ones are thru my EdgeHD 800 CGEM telescope, the other one is fixed tripod and full moon at 2 minute time lapse

AV rack

Lens flare rear shot J.J. Abrams style

I was following your thread but somehow I missed the post above this one where you went through all of your in room photos... the astro photography stuff is awesome!
The wife and I were just up at the dark sky park near Mackinaw trying to get some photos of the Milky Way, but we were having some trouble keeping the condensation off the lenses.
Managed to get a couple of good shots though with 60-90 second exposures. Would have had better luck if I hadn't left the lens with the biggest aperture sitting in the hotel room

Ht 2.0 time!!
I'm getting the new Denon X8500H, hopefully week of Feb-5th delivery.

I will be going 9.2.4 Atmos as my main layout, with Auro-3D 13.1 optional.

I'm at 11.2 now, 7.1 Bed plus FH and FW via my 2012 4520CI
Here's a prior layout study at 9.2.6

Easiest way for me to go dual 9.2.4 + Auro-3D 13.1 is this layout I believe.
For me, I need to add RH's, CH and TS then.

But I'm not sure the Atmos ceiling top to rear panning, if there will be a "hole" mid-way, more than having Auro-3D 13.1 compatibility is worth.

If that's case, then I would go Atmos 9.2.4; 7.1 bed + FW + TF + TR and have to bag Auro-3D layout compatibility.

Hey - How's the MMBA??
Hmmm, the 4520CI?
I'll see what's fair market value for a win-win and shoot you a PM, even 5 years old I tell you that AVR delivers 11.2 flawlessly.
>>Check your PM, lets make a deal

Yea I enjoy building x-overs and their not hard, but here I'm under time constraints so every hour is precious, and $16/each is very fair.
My Fusion-8 MTM's / Cinema-8's from a few months back.

Hoot, Looks like I’m taking this Friday as a vacation day
Scheduled Delivery:Friday, 02/02/2018
Estimated Delivery Time: 10:30 A.M. - 2:30 P.M.

I’ve got the JVC RS400 and an Xbox1X.
First priority is swap the new 8500H in for the 4520CI, run a new hdmi cable to the RS400, and see 4k in all it’s glory.
Then there’s a growing list of items, but those will be after Super Bowl Sunday as we’re having a party

I'm excited to get your opinion on the new 8500 once you get it hooked up. It really does look quite nice

@hd0823 , I'll share my initial impressions going from 4520 to 8500 in the official 8500 thread.
Technology updates, workings, coolness, etc.

Here, I'll focus on the HT re-fit and as I do that in stages it will be reflected here also.
Come to think of it, the title of this thread " "The Envelope" Home Theatre 2014: Mike R(mtbdudex) DIY 11.3 Audio, 2.35 Scope 130in screen" is kinda dated, yet I don't want to ask a mod to update it, as it's a point in time.

Guess it's best for me to start a new thread.
HT 1.0 2007 - 2011 Denon 4308CI 7.1 based is in this thread
HT 2.0 2012 - 2016 Denon 4520CI 11.2 based is in this thread also
HT 3.0 2018 - ?? Denon 8500H 13.2 based ... new thread

HT 3.0 elements; 4k PJ, 13.2 audio, revised acoustics strategy, all DIY speakers, re-do subwoofer strategy, full front baffle wall with AT screen.
Upon the 8500H replacing the 4520CI that will be the start of HT 3.0 thread, and "retire" this one.
