Just have to keep reminding everyone that 3D is not dying off, rather it is evolving.
The evolution was side by side viewmaster like stills to movies with anaglyph to frame packed TV.
Recently the best and most natural 3D I experience is with Oculus Quest. There is a ton of content and more every day. The earlier Oculus Rift has more content but is limited to a tethered to powerful computer to work. The image resolution is getting even better and 3D cameras now supporting 6K resolution. This 3D is considered virtual reality with both 180° and 360° viewing. No more through the window with popout effects. Instead, the entire scene is like you are really there.
I still do watch old fashion 3D 2K Blu Ray movies, but most of my shooting these days is with 3D VR180 6K cameras. Plus, I spend most of my viewing of 3D now with the Quest as there is just so much content available for free.
A new 3D VR content now is interactive stories. Not only are you in a virtual world of the story, you can interact and direct the story as well. Artificial intelligence response using voice recognition is a fascinating new evolution to the older basic 3D. These are considered games but still fun to participate.
While 3D filming and 2K 3D never really caught on in the porn business, porn in VR 3D has skyrocketed and is the fastest growing branch of 3D with hundreds of new content added daily on specific websites. Porn was what made VHS a success in the 80's.
