LG LAS454B Sound issues

I have come across an issue with an LG sound bar that is quite peculiar. It is coming off of a Samsung smart TV. The issue is, it will cut off the main sound and only play the "surround sound." A comparison would be if you had the center channel off on your 5.1 setup and only the surround was playing. This is the second LG sound bar to do this on this TV and it is a completely different model then the other one that was doing the same thing.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Is the TV passing PCM or Dolby? Does the problem persist with either format?

From what I have been told, it doesn't matter which format on the TV. It does it no matter what.

Here's a kicker. He has this same sound bar on another Samsung TV and it isn't doing it at all. The Samsung TVs are different models as well.

Need to check the audio settings on the TV that is causing the problem. That is a 2.1 soundbar so somehow the TV is sending a signal to the soundbar such that the soundbar is probably playing only the left and right audio and not the center or rears.

I don't think you can troubleshoot and isolate the problem without seeing what happens when the audio sources & TV are all configured to pass stereo PCM and then, one by one, Dolby. If the problem continues then what happens if the TV is taken out of the loop by connecting audio sources directly to the soundbar. The issue you describe can typically only happen if one of the devices (soundbar, TV, cable box, etc) is incorrectly downmixing Dolby to PCM, or you simply have a bad soundbar.
