This bar is a beast.
It’s a shame that samsung did not add support for dts hd.
Blade runner 2049 is my atmos favorite disc unbeaten until know.

Correct no Atmos via ARC on the K950 but other 5.1 DD+ works fine. For DD+ with Atmos you have to use HDMI 1 or 2. Yes the N950 supports DD+ with Atmos via ARC.

Wonder if someone have an idea about (on Xbox One) use a HDMI splitter and take the picture direct to LG C9 and get Dolby Vision on Netflix and VRR on games and sound to HDMI-1 to the Soundbar? Plugh the TV ARC to this soundbar HDMI 1,2 doesn't work on LG C9 like the C8 (no optical+HDMI in settings).

With splitter I think Fury is to expensive but perhaps this prisy hdmi-splitter works: https://translate.google.com/transla...06642.14524%2F

A good compromise would be a n950. Ads dtsx and side speakers. I made that upgrade from the k950 and have been very pleased adds dv pasthrouh just no earc. Seems to be fazing out and some good deals if you can still find a new one

Same here. N950 sounds noticeably better than the K950 which already sounded good.

Went from the K950 to the Q90 (very briefly) to the N950. I recommend the N950 since you can probably get a better price and the speakers/drivers are the same as the Q90.

Not all DTS HD works on Q96R from no earc hdmi example Life of Pi and some DTS sound example from UltraHD DST Demo Disc Vol-23. I don't know why? But some film and test examples work and the DTS X logo turns on. But no blue light on the soundbar like the K950. I personally miss that future.

Sorry all reviewers I read and see on YouTube - but I think this Soundbar are more of an budget soundbar for same price compare to K950 but the HDMI ports are a upgrade. I watch the Matrix remaster with Dolby HD 7.1 when I change to my new soundbar in the middle of the film, and its absolut a downgrade sound experience. HW-K950 is a daem good sounding Soundbar when it comes to ATMOS sound.

Ironi:
But nice that Samsung give us a usb-stick to upgrade the soundbar to the latest FW and don't do it before shipping.

Of course a soundbar is in general less impressive than a dedicated sourround system.
Specially for space convenience we all choose a soundbar.
i got my K950 about 2 years ago for around 600 usd new, and i think i will keep it for a few years.

I had "Update" flashing repeatedly again last night. Here's the screenshot from the app. This thing has so many quirks and bugs. I wish it really was updating. I still can't go directly from watching something with Atmos to any other kind of audio without toggling through the inputs or doing a power cycle.

Yes, but I keep seeing the Update message flashing on the K850, even though it's not actually updating to anything new.

You might try resetting the Soundbar. This is how I reset my N950 when I completely lost WiFi. It should also work for the K950 which I used to own. Good luck.

1. Power Cycle SB by unplugging for 60 seconds then turn on.

2.Press and hold both the Volume + and - buttons until you see the POWER OFF msg on the LED screen.

3. Power the Soundbar back on.

Allegedly, this is an issue with the wireless signal. This soundbar uses 2.4ghz band to communicate with speakers/sub, other wireless devices that use 2.4ghz band will interfere with the sound bar under certain circumstances (wireless router, or a device that connects to wireless router, is too close to the soundbar for example).

I also read about people sending in their k950 for repair and it would come back without these issues. Others would just get their soundbar back and still have this problem. No consistency whatsoever.

I experience this issue and have not found a solid solution. The fact that Samsung refused to register different frequency for wireless communication (other manufactures do this so there is no interference with other devices) pretty much summarizes everything.

Oh, by the way, no firmware upgrades since April of last year. I paid less then half of list price for this soundbar, so I can only imagine how upset those who paid full price.

But when i see that my ks serie tv still receive updates i can’t understand why samsung is not supporting this sound bar anymore!!

Will Samsung K950 Play Atmos From LG eARC?

I currently have the Samsung K950 soundbar and an LG 55B7 OLED TV, but soon after the purchase, I discovered that I was unable to watch Dolby Vision and listen to Dolby Atmos audio at the same time. If I plugged my source (ATV) into the soundbar and sent the video out of the soundbar ARC to the TV, I would have Atmos, but not Dolby Vision because 1st generation ARC can't pass through Dolby Vision. Alternately, if I plugged my source (ATV) into the LG and sent the audio out of the LG ARC to the soundbar, I would have Dolby Vision, but no Atmos because 1st generation ARC can't pass through Atmos either. The same dynamic applied if I used an ARC-->ARC connection. Anyway, I was able to finally get both Dolby Vision and Atmos at the same time by using an HDFury device. Apologies for this preamble - just setting the background for my question.

I'm strongly considering the purchase of a new LG 55C9 because my wife would like the 55B7 in the living room. The 55C9 includes HDMI 2.1 which in turn, includes eARC, the 2nd generation of ARC. Unlike the 1st generation of ARC, eARC has enough bandwidth and speed to pass through Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. So here's my question: If I plug my ATV into HDMI 1 on the new LG, and then send the audio out from the LG’s eARC to the soundbar HDMI 1, will the soundbar be able to play Dolby Atmos? The TV will definitely be able to show Dolby Vision because the source is plugged directly into it.

I'm really struggling with this one and it would be great if someone smarter than me knew the answer.

Thanks!

I doubt it since the soundbar doesn’t have eArc.

That was my first thought too, although I'm not sure if the limitation in passing through Atmos is about the device that's sending through ARC or receiving through ARC. Does a cable that originates in an HDMI ARC connection need to be hooked at the other end in another HDMI ARC port?

Yes, ARC has to be supported at both ends for it to work. I assume that also means eARC must be supported at both ends too for Atmos though I can’t back that up with a link to support that thought.

Sorry the HDMI ports on the K950 don't become any better because you are connecting a better ARC equipped TV. The new Samsung Q90R is supposed to get eARC via firmware in Nov. The K950 has very inferior hardware 2.0 ports that don't fully handle normal ARC (DD+ with Atmos) or DV pass through as you already know.

It's okay, I'm starting to understand the futility in my optimism, but I'm really glad I've got the HDFury solution - I can use it on the new LG too.

The part that's throwing me off is that if I'm streaming an Atmos source, say from my ATV, and plug into a regular HDMI port on the K950, the soundbar blue light goes on and I can definitely hear the Atmos. So, in my twisted logic, if I'm able to move all the Atmos data out of the eARC port into that same HDMI port on the soundbar, shouldn't I get the same results?

I used to own the K950 but I now have the N950. The problem is the poor Samsung 2.0 ARC port on the K950 which doesn't accept true DD+ with Atmos. HDMI 1 & 2 accept full DD+ so that is why you get Atmos. Unfortunately HDMI 1 and 2 aren't great ports so they can't pass Dolby Vision. These shortcomings are why I upgraded to the N950.

I too might move to the N950 - I love the sound of the K950 when Atmos is kicking, and I assume I'll get a similar or better sound out of the N950!

At the risk of jeopardizing your generous time, I'm still confused. Once I have the new LG setup and ready to go, I won't be asking or requiring the soundbar to return any audio or video, so I won't be plugging into its "HDMI Out TV ARC" port. I'll just be sending the Atmos encoded audio signal to the bar's HDMI 1 port from the eARC port on the LG. As you say, the soundbar's HDMI 1 & 2 accept full DD+, and my understanding of the eARC spec is that it can deliver full DD+, unlike the original ARC. I know I must be missing something here - just cant figure out what it is.

Thanks again

The good thing about this bar is if u run everything thru Xbox one x everything is Atmos the blue light stays on and it sound like the real thing. I’m always turning my head thinking somebody behind or over top me cause it throws the sound nice. Did anybody else get the update flash today? I can’t seem to get my bar connected to MultiRoom app to update
