Samsung TV & Sanyo Sound Bar (bluetooth issues) Please help

OK, I have a Samsung TV (this one)
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN55K...+samsung+tv+55

Sanyo Sound Bar (this one)

https://www.amazon.com/Sanyo-RFWSB40...anyo+sound+bar

My only choices for connection are optical or bluetooth. When connected to bluetooth or optical, I can't use the TV remote to control the volume. I have to use the sound bar remote. Is this normal? I have other TV's in the house that have sound bars but they are connected via component. I don't have this option with this tv/speaker bar.

Yes, both BT and optical are digital audio. Digital audio typically is fixed volume.

OK thanks.

Last night ran into new issues. While playing around with the TV, going to the Youtube app, or Plex app, the audio would suddenly stop coming out of the sound bar. I then go to audio settings and see optical is connected and it showed activity. I checked the connections and they were secure - Then - Change to TV speakers, there is sound, go back to optical settings in the tv, and no sound comes out of the speaker bar at all. In order to get sound, we had to go back to TV speakers only. Then we reconnected to bluetooth, got sound coming from the speaker bars. Then went back to optical, got sound again. Whatever caused the sound bar speakers to suddenly stop was going to the web browser. Prior to that, sound was working on everything. Youtube, Plex, DirecTV, etc.

It's blowing my mind as I've never had any issues with TV/Soundbars until now. It's always been so simple. It's not like I'm trying to connect an elaborate home theater system with many different connections - just trying to connect a simple sound bar to my TV. Bluetooth works but out of sync, optical is intermittent, component not available on TV and HDMI not available on sound bar.

It can't be the sound bar itself because the prior Vizio sound bar was doing the same thing with optical.
