When the 9.2 is working there just can't be anything better than this! Cost to performance is second to none. That being said I hope Nakamichi is working on a fix for the directv loss of sound when changing channels.

The only other problem I have and hope can be fixed with a software update is with my Amazon for TV pendant. When switching apps or movies thru apps there sometimes is no audio when switching (similar to DirecTV)

I don't know why I keep checking, since I've got the 9.2 and I'm happy with it!

Edit: Looks like there are some new 9.2 systems available on eBay from 3rd party sellers.
I'm in New Zealand but would like to get one of these. Does anyone know how heavy and dimensions of the 9.2 box? They don't ship to here and I'd have to go through a re-shipping company.
Also are these 110/220 volt or 110 only??

I'm in south korea and bought 7.1 system. It was like 40kg with one subwoofer. So 9.2 would be at least 45kg. Shipping cost was almost 300usd (air shipping) I also had to pay for the custom tax. 130usd. I used re-shipping company, too.

It was 650usd soundbar, but I paid almost 1100usd for that 7.1 system.

Your case should be little more than I spent.

Nakamichi site lists Shipping Box = 48.2" x 14.8" x 22.5" (79.2lbs). So 112.4 cm x 37.6 cm x 57.2 cm and 35.9 kg. https://www.nakamichi-usa.com/shockw...92-dolby-atmos. Same dimensions/weight shown on Amazon.

Well, Duncan, he's just this guy, you know?

Is movie mode already using neutral x or will I need to press the direct key to turn it on every time I boot up the sound bar?

Last communication from Ray on this was last Tuesday, he mentioned the Atmos firmware for 7.2 would be available in May.

Can anyone with the 9.2 really tell the difference between what a movie sounded like pre Atmos update vs post Atmos update? Wish there were more YouTube videos on this soundbar

I am super excited for this system to arrive but would be disappointed if this system hasn't even left their facility after 11 days. I live in SoCal so I don't expect it should take long from NorCal once it actually ships.
I purchased my 9.2 bar from them on March 6th and have been speaking to this gentleman named Chris the whole time.

Unfortunately, instead of coming out and telling me the truth from the get go (that they had run out of the 9.2 stock and would need more than 5 business days to ship the order), this gentleman decided to lie and swear up and down that UPS had the package in their hands since last Wednesday (3/13/2018) and it was not updating their page because it had been lost or stolen. In actuality they had not handed over the Soundbar to UPS until today (3/18/2018).

What I am mostly upset about is that I had to cancel the sale of my actual Soundbar (LG SKY10 w/ the SPK8 Surround) as well as the countless hours they made me waste going back and forth with them (Nakamichi) and UPS thinking the package was lost or stolen, when in actuality “Chris” had been lying all along (he finally came clean today after UPS updated their tracking info to “Picked Up”).

I requested that he upgrade the shipping so the Soundbar be delivered on time, but he simply hung up the phone and refuses to answer it.

I am very sorry to see this extremely poor customer service display from Nakamichi, after reading mostly positive reviews on Amazon, eBay and here. What a shame...

I just got my 9.2 setup and had a question so how do i run my xbox 1x and nvidia shield? I have a TCL 75R615 ... So xbox 1x and nvidia into soundbar and soundbar arc out to TV input 3 or 4 which is hdmi 2.0. So since the new update i see this is the best to get atmos? So you don't use arc input on the tv anymore?. If so i will have to use the same picture settings for the shield and xbox and than switch the tv to game mode when using the xbox because i'm using the same input on the tv for both devices? Or run the Shield tv into say input 3 of tv since i stream kodi and never seen any atmos/dolby vision streams and the and the xbox 1x/nakamichi into hdmi 4 of tv ?

I believe you have it wrong. This is from the nakamichi page for dolby Atmos....

According to Dolby, the only way to ensure a full bandwidth, high quality Dolby Atmos experience is to connect your Dolby Atmos supported source devices (e.g Streaming Boxes, Blu-Ray Players, Gaming Consoles, etc) directly to your Dolby Atmos-certified sound system via HDMI 2.0 connection, followed by connecting your TV to the sound system using HDMI ARC.

I could be wrong. Can someone with more knowledge step in. My system sounds amazing with HDMI arc from the sound bar to HDMI arc on the TV. All my other devices are connected directly to the sound bar.

Here is the response I got from Nakamichi via eBay today regarding my 9.2 system that I purchased 14 days ago now.

“Hello, thank you for reaching out to us! Unfortunately we have had a delay with our warehouse shipment and it has affected all of our 9.2 orders. No need to worry, we are expecting the delayed delivery to be in by the 21st of march and we can ship it out on the 22nd. We sincerely apologize for the delay and we have compensated your shipping cost of $59.99 and issued it back to your paypal account. You should see it within 24 hours. Again, we appreciate your patience and understanding.”

This would be great to determine if there is really an improvement.

I was an early adopter of the Shockwafe 9.2 system. Before the Atmos firmware update I thought that native DTS:X sources sounded better than Atmos tracks (I used Neural X upmixiing when listening to Atmos tracks). This is exactly what you expect as this sound bar supported DTS:X sources natively from the get go while not supporting native Dolby sources initially.

Now fast forward to today with the Dolby firmware update applied and now to my ears DTS:X sources and Dolby Atmos sources sound the same to me. And by “same” I mean ridiculously and awesomely wonderful when you step back and consider that this is a sound bar system we are talking about here. So to answer your question yes I could tell a difference post update and the difference was definitely positive. I wish I had more objective data to present to you to support my claim but “how it sounds” will always be subjective no matter how you slice it.

Early adopter here as well. 100% agree with this! For plug and play in a box it is truly shocking how great it sounds. The subwoofer placement matters the most, balance out the two, I use test tones from you tube and be prepared for amazing room filling sound. Atmos has good height effect simulation with great object placement even in dipole mode out to the side. I honestly can’t think of a better purchase that exceeded my expectations by so much, it puts a smile on my face ( and my fiancées) every time we watch a movie just adds so much immersion; she especially likes the lack of wires in the bedroom.

Very nice!
What about the added SSE that was in the update along with Atmos. Can you tell any difference with this?

Should the rear speakers on new 7.1 system be placed vertical or horizontal on bookshelf about 6' behind the listeners?
