also to those requesting an upload of the 7.1 update it explicitly states in the email from nakamichi not to share it until the public release.
The only streaming service that fire stick 4k supports atmos with is Amazon prime... If you have it, turn on jack Ryan as that's the only show with atmos...

So you have exactly 1 show u can stream in atmos with the fire 4k lol welcome to the club! (I'm in it also haha)
you can “sideload” any android app on the firestick as well so even tho amazon and walmart don’t get along you can still get the vudu app on your firestick and it works fine and should be able to stream atmos.

that being said i did try jack ryan and it played dolby vision but still no atmos.
Make sure in the "settings" menu on the firestick you go to "audio and video" then click audio and make sure it is set to "best available"

ok never mind my last reply i was just being stupid. i just needed to do a reset of the firestick from the settings menu and i’m getting “dolby atmos d plus” both from vudu and jack ryan and prime video.

if you’re interested in getting vudu on your firestick it’s really simple. just look up sideloading apps and firestick or if you want the short version you go into your settings and enable apps from unknown sources and adb debugging. then install an app called downloaded which is basically a web browser that allows downloads. go to a site like apkmirror and find the app you want in this case vudu. make sure you get the android tv version not the regular version and download and hit install when the prompt comes up. sign in to vudu and anjou a huge selection of dolby vision and atmos movies.

on an unrelated note since updating to 3.3 i’ve been watching various movies and shows testing the update out for the past couple hours. everything seems great now that i’ve got the atmos thing sorted out. i did have one audio drop out for about 2-3 seconds while watching a youtube video. it wasn’t a buffering issue because the video kept playing in the same quality the audio just dropped so i’m assuming that’s the sound bars fault. as far as audio quality i’ve noticed it’s a bit louder. i ended up turning down all of the channels and bass from what i had it set on the 2.1 firmware and i still need to turn the volume down a tad to be the same as it was before. (fw2.1 vol 20-26 was all i needed for most sources. fw3.3 14-20 sounds like 20-26 on old firmware)

the voices sound just as clear and i’d say maybe there a bit more thump to the bass. the rear surround sound a tad more noticeable as well. all in all i’m really pleased with the update as long as the audio dropouts don’t become commonplace.

Has anyone with the 3.3 experienced audio lag when watching 4k Dolby Vision blu ray discs. My audio is coming in probably 40 to 50 miliseconds after the video. It's obvious enough to be distracting. Doesn't seem to happen when watching directv. Haven't watched enough content to see if it is happening on all sources. Occasionally I would get audio lag on 2.1 but restarting the tv and soundbar always cleared it up. Super annoying.

Installed new firmware. So far, so good. Tested MI:Fallout 4k disc via LG UBK90, passed through Dolby Vision perfectly, Dolby Atmos displayed on Naka 7.1

Tested DirecTV, Prime and Netflix via ARC...all working fine. Airplay via iPhone tested fine as well.

New firmware definitely changed volume. Used to use 32-40 for normal viewing, now 20-28 seems about that volume level.

So far, so good.....

When that has happened to me in the past it was because the name of the file was screwed up because I unzipped it too many times. For example, “FW21.xxx” had a second unzipped file on my home screen which was something like “FW21 2.xxx”, so make sure the name is correct.

I just tried deleting all files and redownloaded, no luck still. Gonna have to wait for support to get back to me.

I’ve had this problem several times. The last time I succeeded was by dragging the firmware file from the .zip file onto my thumb drive. If I “unzipped” the file I received that error.

Hello all,

I recently became a member of the Nakamichi 7.1 crew (2 subs is overkill in my new apartment). My old setup was a larger 5.1 setup with integra receiver and QSC speakers. With the recent move to a smaller place I decided to go with the sound bar and so far I love it. So now on to my questions and concerns.

Coming from a system with separate receiver, I realize it will most like not sound the same. But I feel like I’m doing something wrong with my settings. These are my settings under info

PCM
Movie
B02
Cr10
Tr07
Sr10
Sb08
L00
R00
Pure
Off stereo
Clear voice
180hz
FW 2.1

When I was lmessing around with the settings I clicked dsp off and haven’t figured out how to turn it back on.

I’m trying to figure out optimal settings and any help is appreciated.

Thank you

If someone has the 3.3 firmware for the 7.1 soundbar I would love to try it out. You can email me it: [email protected]

Thank you!

I don't think its out yet. Even for 7.1, 3.3 is not "officially" out, just early access. I assume, anytime now?

Someone posted that Nakamichi gave a release estimate for the end of June for the 3.3 FW for the 7.2 and 9.2.

Turned out to be the disc. I read online after doing some research that the Bumblebee 4k version has audio sync issues on the Atmos track. Paramount has acknowledged and is sending out replacement discs upon request.

Upgraded to the preview yesterday and things seem pretty OK with my internal LG C8 apps and Fios ONE mini box. Switched my speakers to 'hybrid mode' in the stands. Hopefully will have time tonight to try some actual Atmos content via my ultra bluray player (I have the atmos test disk + various 4k Dolby Vision/Atmos movies).

I will say that the volume does seem louder, but, that dialog is maybe softer in general? Need to play with native vs dolby upmix some more (so far I think native is winning), and also figure out what the different levels of 'SSE' do. One other positive note is that I swear it is switching between inputs a bit faster now (from ARC/internal apps to the FiOS box connected via the soundbar).

BTW, anyone have any luck getting the LG Magic remote to control inputs/etc? I have power/volume working via CEC. I also noticed that the very annoying behavior of the soundbar turning on a few minutes after turning everything off doesn't seem to be happening anymore.

I also have been playing with the 7.1 early update and initially i had some audio dropouts but they may have been related to the audio errors on the disc I was watching. Tried a few other discs and specifically John Wick 4k blu ray today and it sounded fantastic. I know some of the 7.2 and 9.2 owners had mentioned they thought the 2.1 firmware with Neural X upmixing the Dolby content sounded better, and that the sound was fuller before, but I think the new firmware sounds better.

It's WAY louder for sure. I have a remote that does not have the SSE icon on it. Do we need to purchase that remote or does the one in the picture have another button that will control the SSE function?

Edit:- Nevermind. It's the DTSX button on my remote.

I'm going to go ahead and say the Atmos update sounds better than the 2.1 firmware. I went back and rewatched some Atmos demo disc content just now that I had watched using the Neural X processing prior to the update. It definitely sounds better to me. The SSE does add some height effects that were not there before. I've never heard Atmos with speakers in the ceiling, but I closed my eyes during the 747 takeoff demo and it sounded just like a plane flying overhead. I am VERY glad i made this purchase...

Do you have any PCM sources?
I watch YouTube TV with the Roku Ultra and Neural X does a decent job with this on 2.1.
I have seen where others with 9.2 and 7.2 have reported PCM was a mess with the Atmos update.

I'll have to check that out and report back. Is that the "washing machine noise" i have been reading about? The only thing I've noticed that is not right is i get momentary audio cutouts. It's just for a split second and it comes right back in.

Nope, they are different issues.

1. 'Washing Machine' issue has happened to me twice in the last weeks I've had Nakamichi 7.2. I've always run firmware 3.2 from day 1. Randomly, you hear a very loud distorted noise which sounds like a loud commercial washing machine in action. When it happens, it is unmissable, you will jump up your couch and run to fix it. The fix is to change to a different HDMI input and come back, or power cycle the soundbar.

2. Here is the PCM issue I see with my Apple TV.

a. Set Pure Direct to Dolby Surround
b. Now play a 5.1 LPCM MC, or Dolby Atmos or Dolby Digital audio - say using Netflix
c. Now go to Hulu (for example) and play something where the content is in PCM

When the soundbar switches from PCM -> Dolby/5.1, or vice versa, sound gets distorted and the whole "Dolby Surround" effect disappears. The workaround is to cycle through the three options of Pure Direct to come back to Dolby Surround.

This is really irritating. When watching PCM sources, even if I pause or forward the video, the same issue occurs. The fix is supposedly going to be in 3.3 upgrade.

I am not sure about the fix for washing machine noise though ...

I've been using Movie mode since I got the system and it's awesome. Think I found something I enjoy a little more though... If I turn on clear voice and the bass up to 10 it really let's the Atmos show with great detail. Try it out
