Nope, they are different issues.
1. 'Washing Machine' issue has happened to me twice in the last weeks I've had Nakamichi 7.2. I've always run firmware 3.2 from day 1. Randomly, you hear a very loud distorted noise which sounds like a loud commercial washing machine in action. When it happens, it is unmissable, you will jump up your couch and run to fix it. The fix is to change to a different HDMI input and come back, or power cycle the soundbar.
2. Here is the PCM issue I see with my Apple TV.
a. Set Pure Direct to Dolby Surround
b. Now play a 5.1 LPCM MC, or Dolby Atmos or Dolby Digital audio - say using Netflix
c. Now go to Hulu (for example) and play something where the content is in PCM
When the soundbar switches from PCM -> Dolby/5.1, or vice versa, sound gets distorted and the whole "Dolby Surround" effect disappears. The workaround is to cycle through the three options of Pure Direct to come back to Dolby Surround.
This is really irritating. When watching PCM sources, even if I pause or forward the video, the same issue occurs. The fix is supposedly going to be in 3.3 upgrade.
I am not sure about the fix for washing machine noise though ...
