I know, right? Well, we should all know more within the next few days re 5.1.4. Fwiw, I checked out my local best buy today since they had the 5.1.2 set-up in stock and available for purchase/order. Unfortunately, they don't have plans to set up a display unit of the atmos-vizio bars until sometime in October so I had no chance to do a demo.

I actually just got back from my local Best Buy and they had the 5.1.2 on display. I honestly didn't like the sound that much. Whereas before I was on the fence about picking it up or just waiting for the 5.1.4, now I'm definitely waiting. Mind you it's Best Buy and its not the best case scenario for testing it out, but I felt no bass whatsoever from the little 6" (not like I could turn it up, no idea what setting it was on)

Keep in mind that the 5.1.4 is going to have a full sized 10" subwoofer and that the smaller one was in an open floor space. Sound stage is completely different compared to your home.

Where in TX?

I see the 5.1.2 available in San Antonio area.

Oh yeah. Even the Sony ST5000 right next to it felt muted and I've heard it in my friends living room so I know what it is capable of. It's just that I actually sat right in front of the sub during the demo and I had to check to make sure it was actually powered on. Would have helped if the guy could find the remote for me to check if the bass setting was all the way down. Only way to know for sure would be to purchase it and return it if I still didn't like it after I set it up in my living room.

Not sure how long will they take to release the 5.1.4.I hope they don’t wait to iron out issues with 5.1.2 and then release it.

Remember there is another product in line for release 3.1.2.

Wish they release the 5.1.4 quick

Lol, add to that it already has 10 5 star reviews that are dated 3 days ago. Mind you they are all from Vizio employees. What a lame way to boost your reviews...

So... 5.1.4 .... Talk to me Goose... We need that 10” sub and rear upfiring action and we need it now!

Also to the person who asked about the wiring to each satellite, this should answer that. Just 1 wire from each to the sub.

Vizio updated their webpage for the atmos bars with new graphics and info. Now has them listed as "starting at $499.99" although only the 5.1.2 is listed. The other two are still listed separately as "coming soon" still.

Check out the Best Buy link for the description, it mention Sony Vizio with two subwoofer lol

“Take movie nights to the next level with this 5.1.2 Sony VIZIO home theater sound system. It has Dolby Atmos technology built-in, so sound seems to come from all around you, and two powerful subwoofers create thumping bass you can feel. This Sony VIZIO home theater sound system has a main sound bar that produces rich, clear audio.”

So theoretically it could still be some time before the 5.1.4 even releases (although who knows- maybe it will come out today).

Here is another news article confirming the pricing: https://www.theverge.com/circuitbrea...ase-date-price.

That pricing makes no sense. Why would the 3.1.2 be $300 more than the 5.1.2?? Also vizio is a value brand, doesn’t make sense they would be close in price to the $1k competitors. I still am hopeful the 5.1.4 will be closer to $600 - $700 range. Otherwise I likely passing on vizio and going naka 7.2.

Ouch...$999

For $500 more than the 5.1.2 you get rear ATMOS speakers and possibly more HDMI inputs???..hmmmm

For that price gap there has to be more that we don't know about. We'll just have to wait and see what happens at release and the reviews start rolling in. Otherwise they are not too far off from Samsung N950 territory.

LG OLED55B8PUA
LG OLED65C7P
LG UBK90
ATV 4K
Samsung HW-N950

I have the N950 arriving Wednesday; I preordered it from Samsung with a .edu discount and tried to cancel the order so I could wait for the Vizio but I didn't cancel it in time.

I paid just under $1400 for the Samsung, with tax and shipping.

At $999 plus tax the Vizio isn't quite in N950 territory but it's getting close, and it doesn't have DTS:X.

I had figured that it would be closer to $699.

I was planning on sending the Samsung right back as soon as I got it, but maybe now I'll check it out first.

And

The Vizio 5.1.4 has a DTS VIRTUAL X which many consider better than DTS X.

If you look at the a picture of the back of the 5.1.2 soundbar, you'll see it has only 1 HDMI Arc and 1 HDMI IN which means yes you can go Arc to TV Arc and another HDMI device directly to the soundbar.

No new reports as of yet on the 5.1.4 so it's a waiting game.

Ouch! Double the price. Someone peel me off the floor from sticker shock. Hoping it’s a typo!!!

Did these not make it on the water before all the tariffs hit or something? If they were to be $799 and got hit with a 25% tariff that could certainly do it...

That's underwhelming if the price is correct. Not that we have to worry about it since we don't even know when it'll be available.

not looking forward to how much that will translate to CAD pricing, seeing as we usually get screwed with the conversion rate

The 3.1.2 is a 46 inch sound bar; the 5.1.2 is only 36 inches.

Not sure if there's any correlation, but the 5.1.2 was Energy Star certified on 7/10 and just came out.

The 5.1.4 was Energy Star certified on 9/5. Hope that doesn't mean it's still 2 months out.
