That would put the 5.1.4 Late Fall.

$999 MSRP for the 5.1.4 takes it completely off the table for me, that's wayyyyyyy too high for a brand who's market niche has always been about value and affordability.

Hopefully they will slash the premium price pretty quickly like they did with the 65" Quantum TV when they realize they can't sell Vizio branded products at SONY or Samsung prices. The Quantum is an amazing TV, but like many Quantum owners, I only bought mine when they dropped the street price from $2199 to $1499 only a month after release.

Hopefully we'll see the 5.1.4 system take a similar plunge down to the $699 mark when they realize the Vizio brand can't hold up these higher prices.

Lol they can sell it at any price they want and still sell them good. We got lucky with the p quantum because when they first released they sold out at MSRP. Im a little upset about the price being 1K but they know what they are doing and so far they are less than the competition else still

Maybe, I doubt it, but only time will tell. Also, if they sold out all the Quantums at $2199 MSRP why did they crush the price to $1499 only a month (or so) after it hit the shelves? That would fly in the face on the most basic principles of supply and demand economics.

I get that, I’m hoping they do the same with the sound bars

The $1k MSRP of the 5.1.4 system has me in a wait and see position. While cheaper than competitor offerings it’s a steep premium over Vizio’s non-Atmos systems.

Here is the formal announcement-

VIZIO Announces Availability and Pricing of All-New 2018 Premium Home Theater Sound Systems with Dolby Atmos®

Up to 10 Channels of Crystal-Clear Sound, Including Four Unique Upward-Firing Speakers, Bring Immersive Cinematic Audio to Your Living Room

Irvine, CA — Sept. 18, 2018 — VIZIO, Inc. announced today the retail availability and pricing of its all-new 2018 Home Theater Sound Systems with Dolby Atmos. Designed to produce extraordinary cinema-inspired sound from every angle, even from above, the new collection sets the standard for immersive in-home audio. The VIZIO Home Theater Sound Systems with Dolby Atmos are available in three configurations and feature independent upward-firing speakers that deliver up to 10 channels of incredible sound from every direction. The VIZIO 36” 5.1.2 Home Theater Sound System with Dolby Atmos is available now at Best Buy, Costco and Sam’s Club for an MSRP of $499.99. The 46” 5.1.4 and 46” 3.1.2 models will be available at retailers including Amazon.com, Best Buy and Walmart later this year with respective MSRPs of $999.99 and $799.99.

“VIZIO’s latest Dolby Atmos home theater sound bar integration continues to prove our dedication to delivering high-performing, intuitive products at the incredible value for which we’re known,” said Bill Baxter, Chief Technology Officer, VIZIO. “This next iteration of audio solutions to hit retailers offers consumers an immersive cinema-quality home audio experience thanks to hardware advancements such as upward-firing speakers that allow sound to reflect off the ceiling and truly encapsulate listeners.”

The new home theater sound systems build on VIZIO’s legacy of award-winning audio performance. Featuring up to four Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers that reflect sound off the ceiling, listeners hear a range of subtle sounds that are often missed with conventional audio setups. Birds fluttering overhead, thunderstorms and helicopters swirling above become part of the listening experience to further draw viewers into their entertainment. Engineered to delight demanding audiophiles, each system starts with rich sound from the main sound bar’s left and right channels for a wide-ranging sound stage. A separate center channel then creates crystal-clear dialogue, while a powerful wireless subwoofer produces room-shaking bass. Select models also feature rear surround sound speakers for an enhanced listening experience, while added upward-firing speakers wrap the entire viewing environment with sound. Boasting a simple, plug-and-play installation process – without the need for additional components such receivers, amplifiers or other cables – the collection yields cinematic sound within minutes. The three configuration options are designed to complement a variety of television and room sizes. Additionally, sleek, industrial profiles maintain a clutter-free atmosphere and aesthetic.

With Google Chromecast built-in, the VIZIO Home Theater Sound Systems with Dolby Atmos also allow users to stream music from any Chromecast-enabled audio app, including favorites like Google Play Music, iHeartRadio, Pandora and Spotify. By tapping the Cast button or by downloading the free VIZIO SmartCast Mobile™ app, users can transform any mobile device into a powerful touchscreen remote to stream music directly to their VIZIO home theater sound system or sound bar. These new audio offerings ship with a remote to control a variety of functions. The latest VIZIO sound bar systems also feature smart home capabilities such as voice-control support for Google Assistant, allowing users to control their sound bars using only their voice.

I just ordered the 5.1.2 for pickup, I can't wait for a powerful model and saw 500 difference a bit much. Will provide thoughts when I set it up later tonight.

I still am hopeful the 5.1.4 will be closer to $600 - $700 range. Otherwise I likely passing on vizio and going naka 7.2.
Well I guess I will no longer be purchasing the 3.1.2 bar. $800??? No thanks. That’s twice the price I thought it was going to be. I guess we’ll see what the price is on Black Friday but I’m not holding my breath.

Hi,

I got it also because of this review, I think it is credible and he mentioned the below;

4K/UHD, HDR-10, and Dolby Vision HDR pass through,

Also he mentioned it filled a 24x30 foot room and mine is half the size in my apartment so thats why I got it. I just picked it up

I cant post link because i do not have enough post but the review is on tech hive

Well I’m definitely out for the 5.1.4. Very disappointed to see price. I may pick up the 5.1.2 today to see if the atmos on it is worth it. There YouTube vids popping up but none yet with a good revie. Just unboxing vids and computer voiced ads. Curious to hear a review about the quality and if you can really hear the atmos from above. Obviously you need good ceiling aesthetics.

Just looked at the one on display at my local BB.

A few thoughts.

1) Might be good to actually have power to the sub so that the surrounds and sub will work.

2) The 5.1.2 surrounds are awful puny looking in comparison to the Samsung. It may have something to do with the Samsung’s needing more room for power components or something.

3) Hard to see myself paying another $500 for Vizio 5.1.4 at this point.

4) We have a functional system now, so going to wait out the reviews. I learned how not to be an early adopter with the new P-series...

My best guess regarding the price is that they looked around at the competition of 5.1.4 and figured 1k will be the most affordable system of that type. But they're not accounting for the fact that (i) the whole point is buying Vizio is the low price point, and (ii) since they priced the 5.1.2 at 500, nobody's going to want to pay 500 bucks for two up-firing speakers. I think they're sell the .2s really well, and the .4s will suffer. So as someone mentioned above, I would bet that by the holidays the .4s will have a big drop in price.

Officially dual format. I don't care what I buy, as long as it's not a combo.

So I picked up the 5.1.2. I mean it sounds a little better in my living room that I expected, but I am coming from TV speakers at the moment. I would give you guys some impressions on the Atmos height channels but at the moment I can't get it to stay in Atmos mode for more than 30 seconds at a time. Im using the ARC connection with my LG C7 since I don't have any other separate devices other than a DireTV box. I'll have to troubleshoot and I'll let you guys know if I figure it out in case someone else gets the same issue.

SK10Y + Rear speakers on sale frequently around $600. There is no DTS:X or virtual X however. The VIZIO 5.1.4 should be around $600-700 to be competitive IMO.
