Hi All,
Can anyone here help out to figure how the 5.1.4 might stand up against nakamichi 9.2.
I was planning to buy a descent home theater setup with wireless rear and nakamichi 9.2 is within my budget and has excellent reviews.
I understand it’s too early to ask and given nakamichi 9.2 is not yet Atmos compatible( might be with a future firmware as per another forum ) might not be a Apple to Apple comparison.
However given that the 5.1.2 is $499 , I expect the 5.1.4 around $650 a great price and Vizio is having dedicated rear too with upward firing drivers.
Would it be wise to wait for the 5.1.4 ?

Comparisons with a hypothetical are always flawed.

Nakamichi has strong presence, because of its multiplicity of very good quality drivers, its widely distributed sound, and two subwoofers, but it does not do genuine height.

The Vizio has strong promise based on previews, has genuine height, but it's still an unknown. If it

really can do 20 hz - 20 khz, that would be interesting.

That's why you have to wait, and why art puns are more interesting than an absolute absence of facts.

An affordable 5.1.4 system would be really cool. As far as Costco is concerned, I was disappointed when they did not offer the better Yamaha Virtual X sound bar

Costco does have the new $100 Vizio bar though. That’s why I had/have hope that they will carry these as well.

Please click on the link and look at the column for the 5.1.4 set up and slowly scroll down and you will see DTS Virtual:X

Under Audio Enhancement Technology Indicates the kind of audio enhancement technology used in each sound bar system.

Yes. The sats have two speakers each, one regular and one on top.

No. One wireless subwoofer that is connected to two rear sats that each have two drivers. Then the bar which will have five drivers.

I been following this thread the last month or so since my previous vizio 5.1.2 crapped out. I’m down to the vizio atmos 5.1.2/4 or nakamichi 7.2. I want atmos, but would go naka if the sound is noticeably better. Happy to see we are so close. Hopefully someone desperate will pick a vizio atmos from Best Buy and tell us how it sounds.

Correction above. I have/had older vizio with rear surround satellites, not 5.1.2.

The Best Buy description for the Vizio 5.1.2 is funny - mentions Sony Vizio with two subwoofers.Looks like some body was writing the description after a late night hangover 😝

“Take movie nights to the next level with this 5.1.2 Sony VIZIO home theater sound system. It has Dolby Atmos technology built-in, so sound seems to come from all around you, and two powerful subwoofers create thumping bass you can feel. This Sony VIZIO home theater sound system has a main sound bar that produces rich, clear audio.”

Did you get a chance to hear the naka.I am also in the same boat but never heard the naka . Just read reviews for the naka which are very positive.

I too have vizio 5.1 and wanna upgrade as my Samsung tv doesn’t have a 5.1 passthrough with optical and the old vizio 5.1 doesn’t have hdmi. So I don’t get true 5.1

Eagerly waiting for the 5.1.4 as it is the only product which promises wireless rear upward firing speakers.I wish they release soon so that I can take a call on which one to purchase

I have not heard the naka. Same as you, I’m going off the reviews and common theme is great sound. I just don’t love the design. I loved my old vizio so I’m likely gonna go with 5.1.4 first and see/hear how the atmos sounds. I’m really interested to see if this can simulate ‘ceiling’ bouncing sound.

Previous 5.1.2? I thought these latest models were their first attempt at Atmos?

Hi,

I am from India. My sister's is in TX. I asked her to check with Bestbuy and Walmart about the availability of 5.1.4 Atmos System. Bestbuy and Walmart both confirmed that it is already launched and if she orders they can bring it in stock. Price USD 499. Any body else checked?

As far as I can see online only 5.1.2 is available in Best Buy with 1 hr store pickup for $499

Neither do I think 5.1.4 would be same price , nor do I see it available online

I have also raised the same question, but she affirmed that the store representative assured it is 5.1.4. As I was not there in person and my sister is not familiar with the terms, that is why I am raising this here. She visited the store in person.

Best Buy has the 5.1.2, model SB36512-F6. My local Wal Mart doesn't have that one, nor does it have the 5.1.4.

A couple of reviews are up at Best Buy for the 5.1.2. Seems that Vizio gave their employees early access to it. I guess take those reviews with a grain of salt since I'm sure they got a heck of a deal, but 1 "normal" person review.

Great question. I would imagine it to be a power and signal in one type cable. But we’ll see as soon as someone gets their hands on one!

I'm very frustrated that the 5.1.2 is in stores already and Vizio still has not released actual information via their website or twitter. I've been patiently waiting for a decent/affordable atmos soundbar for roughly two years and I really want the 5.1.4 but we don't know when they'll put that out and I have no idea the actual specs. I live in a condo and I'm not entirely sure the larger sub would be a good idea but of course I want it.

Hello,

I am waiting for the 5.1.4 uncle too.

I am also wondering if the speakings come with speaks stands for the rear ones? If not, can someone recommend some cheap stands that will be compatible?

Thanks,

Amit

No, they do not come with speaker stands. Look on Amazon, there are plenty of compatible stands like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002HZHUCW

I'm sure they don't come with any stands. I got these for an older Vizio 5.1 setup.
