Soundbar/system recommendation for deaf in one ear (i.e., surround not needed)
New to this forum. I have complete unilateral deafness so surround sound unfortunately isn't detectable to me. Was looking for a recommendation keeping this in mind, i.e., thinking a soundbar and sub, but no need for rear speakers. Want it mainly for movies/tv and secondarily for music. Willing to spend up to $1000-1500, though that's not a goal.
Most soundbars in that price range include surround channels either as separate or built in, including Atmos.
Since you aren't interested in those, you can still shell out since they are still quality (I like the Sony and Samsung sound bars at that price).
You can also just look at a slightly older Samsung MS650. It's 3 channel front (L, C, R) so you get nice separation and better for movies..it also can play LOUD while maintaining clarity and has decent bass response. You can also purchase separately their 10" sub for low end.
Sony XBR-65Z9D / Oppo UDP-203 / Marantz SR7011 / Def Tech 9060 Series
If you can go with an HT receiver as your power source, take a look at 3 channel passive soundbars. Lots of good options in this category. Take a look at Golden Ear, Def Tech, Phase Tech, KEF, PSB, Paradigm, Revel, Monitor Audio, to name a few.
