I don't use my 4K player for streaming. I use my ATV 4K, if that is why you are asking.

You specified that you dont notice atmos when you play a 4k disc. So was just inquiring as to if you set the sound on your 4k player to output bitstream uncompressed sound for atmos or dts x. In some players you actually have to set it up in settings. And in some discs, you have to manually choose atmos I'm the disc settings as well.

No, I was just letting JSK0307 know that I sometimes hear that odd noise he mentioned and that so far, I only hear it every so often when streaming movies with ATMOS on Netflix. I've yet to hear it when using a 4K disc.

Interestingly enough I haven’t noticed the distortion since relocating my subwoofer. It was previously about 4-6 ft away from the sound bar and now I have it 2-3ft. Also changed the orientation so that it’s firing forward into the room rather than into the wall.

I did something similar last weekend. I initially had the cloth side of the sub facing the wall. My thought was the sound waves were bouncing off the wall and right back at the speaker causing the distortion, since mine sits close to the wall.

So, I flipped the sub around so that the cloth side faces me (the couch) and so far so good. I still don't know why this never happened while using 4K disc, but all seems well now so I'm cool.

The sub and rears can be sensitive to RF interference, especially in the 5ghz range. Reorienting the equipment can help sometimes.

Makes sense. I have 5ghz wifi extended into my room with about 10 devices connected. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was my problem.

Question, does anyone else have an issue connecting their sound bar to the smart things app for Wi-Fi connection? I keep getting a "your device isn't supported" notification.... it's a Samsung Soundbar!

Hi there , I am unable to get Dolby vision with this soundbar , I only get HDR, i am seeing other people experiencing same kind of issue , on the other hand I also see people claiming that it works fine , could be a compatibility issue between bar and my tv ?

I am using soundbar between ub820 and gz950 Panasonic .

My cables are not the problem as I do get hdr and also Atmos etc
I am using the amazon ones.

Also if I connect the Blu-ray player directly to the tv I do get DV passing through. Is there anyone using a Panasonic tv which can confirm that they get DV pass-through via soundbar ?

I'll just say that I personally have had all kinds of problems with Amazon basic hdmi cables. They dont even work well even on my ps4 pro to tv....anywho... I have a lg ubk90, q90, and lg C8 tv and dolby vision works fine. Same with Netflix and Vudu from my Nvidia Shield pro. I use the Belkin 48gbps cables.

I might give it a try then with one of those 8k cables , quick question , will I need 2 cables ? One from source to bar and another from bar arc to tv ?! Right ?!

Anyone have a consistently reliable way to consistently switch HDMI ports on the soundbar? I have minor annoyances with using the Xbox, FiOS and Samsung apps. So I have to juggle 3 remotes most of the time. I find that I often have to power off the soundbar or power cycle the sources to get it to detect the appropriate source.

Not really Samsung does not have dedicated codes for their inputs which is super ****ty for the price of this bar. My harmony messes up all the time. I programmed in a source button on the lcd screen so I can manually switch it when it messes up.

Bummer! Was actually thinking of getting a Harmony for just this reason.

To some extent I can live with it but my less techy wife isn’t so accepting. Her point is that it’s a Samsung tv and matching soundbar which I agree with. It should just work.

I was able to get my Harmony working with my N950. Just takes same tweaking.

Under Fix Delay:

Power on delay 22s (this lets everything start up and settle down)
Interkey delay 100ms
Input delay 1000ms
Interdevice delay 500ms

Under Input Settings

Input method - Input list with source or next buttons
Display current input - Play (this is a trick to get the device into source select mode when the LED is blank)
Move to next input - Source
Device Inputs - D.In, Hdmi1, Hdmi2 (I’ve disabled wifi and bluetooth which I don’t use)

Under Command Repeats

I’ve also disabled CEC on everything.

I do have a separate key programmed to switch inputs. That can help when the HDMI handshakes get weird.

To simplify things for your spouse. you could connect your devices to the TV and just use ARC to the sound bar. I'm not sure if the Xbox will do Atmos that way since I have heard of issues with older Samsung bars. By using ARC you should be able to just use the Samsung remote or the FIOS remote for most things except gaming.

Tried that initially but it introduces lip sync issues that I cannot tune out.

So I hate to be lazy and not read all 19 pages. Can anyone tell me not to get the Q90R? I will not be plugging in anything else into it but the Samsung 82" TV. Looking for a "high end" soudbar package with the external sub and rear channels to simplify my setup vs a massive wired typical package (which I still could do).

Thanks in advance.

Appreciate it. and I welcome more opinions. I will have a 300w peachtree integrated amp two polk 707 towers nearby. but i am wanting to do something simple for everyday viewing and the Q90R really got my attention - even if it appears "small" in size. but the reports of crackly connectivity to the rears and sub had me concerned. The setup will be in a walkout basement, and I do have a google mesh network hub nearby - which i could relocate if RF interference is one of the connectivity culprits.

I’ve had the Q90R for a couple of weeks now. I did have an odd distortion randomly with the sub but resolved that by relocating it closer to my sound bar. Have not had any issues with the rears.

It’s a good every day sound system but shines when cranked up a bit during movies.

The monoprice 48Gbps cables are good for the price as well.

Hi guys!

I read so many posts and I can see there are so many problems with the Q90 but still, I'm really thinking to buy one.
I have 65" Samsung KS8500 TV and I'm really satisfied with TV, just need something better than my old 5.1 setup and the Q90 seems like the right choice. I have PS4 Pro and Nintendo Switch consoles. I have Netflix and HBO on a TV via TV apps.

You all know that Samsung KS8500 has One Connect box so I have one/two question(s).

1. Can I connect the soundbar to the One Connect box and have everything to work properly or is it smarter/better to connect another way? Like I said - I have PS4 Pro, Switch and sometimes I connect my external HDD to the HDD port on a One Connect box.

2. Does anyone use Q90 for gaming and are you satisfied with the sound? If I buy Q90 my plan is to use it also with the PlayStation 5.

Many thanks.

With any piece of equipment there are always going to be problems in one form or another somewhere down the road. With that being said, I personally have no real complaints out of this sound bar and I enjoy it immensely! The atmos is live with this one. Mine is hooked up to my Q9fn one connect Box, but my Blu-Ray player is hooked up directly to the sound bar first so I can really get the atmos out of the movies. I personally haven't tried hooking up the playstation or xbox (xbox one x/s is the only system where some of the games are truly atmos supported) to the sound bar, because in game mode the sound is pretty good as is.
