Bose Soundbar 700

Curious why an $800 soundbar from 2019 only has a single HDMI eARC connection? How do you connect more than one HDMI device? I have like 8 including STB, Apple 4KTV, BD player, Ps4/Ps3/Xbox One S/Xbox 360/Nintendo Switch&Wii U. Also, since the Switch only has HDMI output using their dock (not TOSLINK) can it even be connected at all??

I have a 500 which is the same only smaller. I use an TiVO, Apple TV, Roku and a DVD player all connected to my Sony TV via HDMI. The sound bar is connected to the TV via optical. I do this because I was short a HDMI connection if I connected the soundbar via HDMI. I did have it connected via HDMI and ARC for a while but ARC was a little flakey for me. I use a Harmony remote and all works well with my setup.

Since eARC can now pass all the uncompressed formats (TrueHD, DTS-MA), soundbar manufactures are cutting costs and expecting owners to plug everything into their TV. Not saying I agree with it, but it is what it is. With that many devices, you may need to look into an HDMI switch.

If you have 8 HDMI devices that require simultaneous connection to your TV, then you should be looking at an A/V receiver with ample HDMI inputs plus a passive soundbar. I don't know of any soundbars that have that many HDMI inputs.
