Samsung HW-K950 vs HW-N950 vs Q90R
I had an HW-K950, which exhibited some hiss in rear channels (at various times). I moved that system to my vacation property and now I want to get something new for home to replace it. I think I'll stick with the same Samsung X.1.4 soundbar series, so I'm trying to decide between:
(a) another HW-K950
(b) the newer HW-N950
(c) the newest Q90R (mostly the same as HW-N950?)
I can get the QR90 for a decent price from Samsung (currently $300 off), but I can also go to eBay and get the K and N models for half that price.(and no support from Samsung I presume). I don't really "need" the 7.1.4 system in the N & Q models - the 5.1.4 in the K model was just fine. I also don't need eArc.
I've read a few discussions here about the newer models and various problems with connections. I'd like to think I won't have any of those problems because I don't have eArc, Xbox, Apple TV or other devices. I could be wrong. All I have is a DVD player, TV and soundbar (as listed below). So my questions are:
(a) have they fixed the rear speaker hiss yet? which model - N or Q?
(b) apart from the extra speakers, does the N model greatly improve on the shortcomings of the K model (hiss, etc.)?
(c) would it be foolish to get the N model if the only new updates are coming for the Q model?
Right now, I think I'm leaning towards a half-price HW-N950. Am I wrong?
