Q70R update via USB

Need instructions how to update....

I've downloaded the software update for the
HW-Q70R/ZA onto a USB flashdrive. Now what?
Do I take the update put of it's folder before giving it to the soundbar?
What preparations to take before plugging it into the service port on the soundbar?
Then what?

Typical for the Samsung sound bars:

Unzip the file.

Copy the firmware file to the flash drive.

Insert the flash drive into the sound bar while it is powered off.

Power on the sound bar with the remote.

Let it cycle through the update process on its own.

It may power cycle several times by itself while updating, so just wait and let it do everything on its own.

Try to position the sound bar so you can watch the readout while updating.

IIRC, you can check firmware by pressing and holding the gear button on the remote while the system is powered off.

Oppo 203 - Samsung HW-N950 - SVS PB12-NSD 7.2.4

Thanks for the reply. Followed your instructions and after about 5 minutes I held in the "gear" button
and watched a bunch of numbers go by. When that finished, I turned it off and removed the flash drive.
I assume it's updated now.
Why these easy instructions aren't in the user manual is beyond me.
Also it says updating can be done using WIFI.
How I give the sound bar my WIFI password is beyond me.

Did any of the numbers match the version number of your new firmware?

No numbers match! Some are: 0122.0, 01044.0, 0051.0 and so on.
The download, from Samsung, zipped is called SAT-HKA10W.
Unzipped it's called: upgrade.msd, 313,466 KB, dated 6/22/19.
Maybe my soundbar is already up to date. I purchased it new
12/19/19 from Best Buy.

Somewhere in there, you should see 1008.0 stream across the sound bar readout.

I would expect your sound bar already to have it. That’s a July 2019 firmware.

When you do the update, you should see “updating” or something like that scroll across the readout.

If the firmware is already up to date, the sound bar might not go through the update process. I don’t recall on that.

Never saw 1008.
Never saw the word "update."
Reviewed my video again and only saw 6 numbers.
0122.0, 1006.0, 0051.0, 0040.0, 1033.0, and 0033.0
I would guess if the soundbar is up to date, that the word "update"
wouldn't appear.
I'll just let it go and check in the future for updates.
Thanks for you help.

I suspect that 1006.0 might be your firmware number.

You can try using the Samsung SmartThings app to do a firmware update over wifi.

Just install the app on your phone or tablet first. There’s a function on the app for updates.

I don’t use the app, so I don’t know my way around it though.
