Using soundbar HDMI input to pass video thru to TV
I have a basic question about soundbars (specific soundbar is Samsung HW-R60C connected to a 2014 model Samsung TV). My TV has 3 HDMI inputs, one being ARC. The soundbar has one HDMI input and one HDMI ARC output. Including the soundbar, I have a need of 4 HDMI inputs (my TV has only 3). Is it true that the HDMI input on the soundbar will pass the video signal on to the TV while playing the audio on the soundbar? I can't find any information that specifically states this. The manual only says sound will play coming from this device, it doesn't say one way or the other if the video will play on the TV.
Secondly, with this configuration (one device connected to the soundbar HDMI input, the soundbar HDMI ARC output connected to the TV HDMI ARC input, and two other devices connected to the remaining TV HDMI inputs), can I use the TV remote to control the soundbar volume and can I use the TV remote to toggle thru all three video sources? My goal is to configure the soundbar and throw the soundbar remote in a drawer unneeded.
