I saw the leaked 5-minute-long IMAX trailer and this will be wonderful to watch in 3D.

I was just being funny, probably the last film was the best so far, none are particularly great films unless you're just really a fan of the old ones.

I also like to say that Batman and Robin (1997) was the best Batman movie. Hard to keep a straight face though without laughing.

So far my favorite Godzilla films are The Showa era of Japanese history refers to Emperor Hirohito's reign, which ended with his death in 1989. At that point his son Akihito became emperor and the Heisei era began.

There are currently 4 different periods of Godzilla movies: 1) the Showa era, which includes the films from 1954 to 1975, 2) the Heisei era, which includes the films from 1984 to 1995, 3) the Millennium era, which includes the films from 1999 to 2004, and 4) the current Post-millennium era, which started in 2016 with Shin Godzilla. All Toho Pictures.

So far my favorite Godzilla are these I've seen. Thank you Toho Pictures

1. Gojira (1954) Director: Ishirô Honda There is no topping the original Godzilla film . I got emotional at the end. So good.

2. Godzilla Raids Again (1955) Director: Motoyoshi Oda Had no idea it snowed so much!

3. Godzilla vs. Monster Zero (1965) Director: Ishirô Honda Who new Godzilla can 'BreakDance'

4.Godzilla (2014) In 3D Director: Gareth Edwards

5. Shin Godzilla (2016) Directors: Hideaki Anno, Shinji Higuchi Epic

6. Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964) Director: Ishirô Honda

7. Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974) Director: Jun Fukuda

8. Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001) Director: Shûsuke Kaneko

9. Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989) Director: Kazuki Ohmori

10. Godzilla (1998) Director: Roland Emmerich They bastardized the look of Godzilla . Ok Monster flick but not a Godzilla film with the monster design IMO.

I am pre-ordering Godzilla: King Of The Monsters in 3D https://hometheaterphotos.com/projector2/godzilla.gif

Big fan of the original movies and this new one looks the most faithful to the original in look and feel. Don't care for the whole military team up though, just looks silly and unnecessary.

Warner Bros. has been awesome about releasing 3D Blu-rays. Pre-orders generally start around the theater release date. Warner Bros. usually has a US release that shows up for pre-order a bit later.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is in theaters on May 31. One week to go.

I managed to see this in 3D tonight, there's some excellent stand out parts in the film where 3D is used well (fighter jets engaging in aerial combat) and shots of Godzilla and the other monsters. As CinemaBlend says a lot of the film is quite dark (or raining and/or burning/smoking) which is very similar to the first film to get that dark menacing mood so you need a good quality projection. If you liked the first movie in 3D you should like this as well, they ramped up the action significantly in this over the first film. They really should have saved Ken Watanabe's "Let them fight" quote for this film to be honest.

We saw it this past tuesday in a very good 3D theater. I went in 100% blind on this, no trailers. I loved it!! tons more action than the first and thought the 3D was very good. I can't wait to see this at home in 3D!

Sorry to disagree, but I saw this last night in 3d, also went in blind, and wish I had remained blind. I guess Godzilla just isn't for me. I almost walked out, and that I have never done. I have the 3d disc of the 2014 film yet unwatched, so perhaps I should have seen that first.

Admittedly it seems I am having trouble with seeing 3d effects, particularly negative parallax, but I didn't see much depth in this one at all either. I had seen Dark Phoenix in 3d 30 minutes earlier so with that as reference there really seemed to be a lack of impact to the 3d in King of Monsters.

Anyone wanting to watch Godzilla: King of the Monsters really should watch Godzilla first since the plot is so thin on its own that it probably wouldn't make sense as a standalone movie. Re-thinking the 3D they went for the more conservative approach (which is mostly all beyond the window) which is pretty common I find in most 3D films nowadays. However, since a quite a few shots needed a wide field of view forcing the camera to be set quite far away (ie Godzilla fighting it out with Ghidorah, monsters on top of a volcano) you can't really get a super strong 3D effect on it either without it looking unnatural.

I personally can't see much negative parallax effects either unless it's done to the extreme. The main issue is they are usually too quick for me to notice clearly (explosions, things flying out of the frame) or too obvious/gimmicky that it diminishes the effect when overused. It's a bit like 3D/surround sound audio, most movies just don't seem to utilise rear channels enough to integrate well with what's happening on-screen, it always seems under utilised.

While doing some searching it looks like Australia also gets Godzilla: King of the Monsters on 11/09/2019.

JB Hi-Fi
Sanity

Which is a lot earlier than the UK release date it seems (02/12/2019).

Picked my copy up at BB today. They showed 2 in stock when I checked out.

Re-watched the previous one just now, I don't get the Halo jump, I mean really? Couldn't just jump at 2k feet? Had to be a Halo jump. lol.

This line intentionally left blank.

Watching some of the commentary about it this was purely for visual effect. I'd expect the military or skydivers/base jumpers rolling their eyes about whether it was really necessary. These days you do get movies/TV series that really put style over substance - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the type of film/series "demands" a particular style/scene/trope from viewer expectations which doesn't always translate for new or unfamiliar viewers as well.

Yeah, that was my thinking too. Someone said, "Can we fit a halo jump in? Mission Impossible is doing it, WE'RE doing it!"

Watched the second one right after the first. I like that it's a continuation in the same universe. Different actors. And they set it up for another film. Kong gets mentioned but not really seen accept some footage from I think the previous King Kong movie. Next movie looks to be on Skull Island according to end credits teaser. Pretty good movie overall. Will be interesting to see Kong vs. Godzilla. Hasn't been done for awhile.

King Kong vs. Godzilla releases March 20, 2020.

Pretty much - for example John Wick 3's majority of the motorcycle scenes were literally inspired/lifted from "The Villainess" so I'm sure directors and cinematographers are watching what everyone else is doing to see if they can fit something they found cool into the film. With regards to Kong vs Godzilla my guess is the post credit scene from King of the Monsters will end up having a large part to play in the film.

I thought the 3d was good overall. Depth was good. I’ve never seen something pop out of my LG TV

Watch Fantastic Beasts 3D and you will see pop outs. In fact there is a pop out thread: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/196-3...t-effects.html I assume you have a LG b/c/or e6p as these are LG's only 3D models. Outside the US the model has other names.

Anál nathrach, orth’ bháis’s bethad, do chél dénmha
Display: LG OLED 65e6p, Player: OPPO UDP-203, AVR:Yamaha TSR 7810, Streaming: Comcast 60Mbps RG6 to Cat6a, Speakers: Mains Vandersteen IIC, Center, Surrounds, Rears Klipsch
