Please note I wasn't trying to belittle your commitment or service. Just acknowledging a great price on a TV set. Thank you for your service to our country.

And I was just seizing on the opportunity to provide a little humor.

You're in luck. As of today, the XBR75Z9D is listed as in stock for $7K. (And the 65Z9D, which I am targeting, is also available now for $4.5K.)

65x850D is $1399
65x930D is $1899

Samsungs are priced the same as BB and other local stores.

Just FYI if you open a star card your first purchase is 15% off until November 7th.

I stumbled across this thread after going to the BX and seeing the 75x940d on sale...for $2,999 until Dec 1st. I wasn't sure how good of a deal this was, but after reading the comments here I'm guessing I should be going back first thing in the morning to make the purchase!

WOW. Yeah.

I have a friend who could get me one. Extremely tempting.

Stuck up, half witted, scruffy looking, nerf herder.

Well, thought I would update the pricing:

XBR55X850D - $799
XBR55X930D - $1199
XBR75X940D - $2,999
XBR85X850D - $5,999

NOBODY CAN TOUCH THESE DEALS, AND I MEAN NOBODY!

Kinda tells you how much all the other stores are making on these.

So, after some TV researching, I got the itch to purchase a new set. Originally wanted a 70"+ tv but the prices were a bit a exorbitant for me, personally, during my initial inquiry. Figured 65" was what I would settle on and the KS8000 seemed like a good bang for the buck at the time ($1399. Hasty decision, but sale was ending within a matter of hours before closing). Purchased to lock in the price, but had second thoughts almost instantly, so I researched more, which led to my buyer's remorse before even picking up the dang thing (still at the NEX warehouse). After reading countless reviews and talking to a few people, I figured I should get the 930D instead. Which leads me to the cliff notes below:

1. After looking for the 930D on AAFES, I ran across the 940D for $2999.99 and changed my mind about getting the 930 because $3K is something I could live with, vice the $5K+ cost I was seeing at the beginning of my search.
2. AAFES had 2 online so I carted and dwelled on whether to add the insurance. Started researching whether it was worth the money and inventory was exhausted when I returned.
3. While Googling about AAFES' warranty, I ran across horrid reviews about their online sales, orders cancelled, subpar delivery, and taking months to be refunded.

As you can imagine, that made me a little weary of going the online route. That said, I'd like to know what physical exchanges you've seen carrying the 940. And by chance any close to SoCal? Specifically San Diego. Don't mind driving a little if it's not too too far. Would like to avoid online purchasing if possible. Additionally, outside of the first poster in this thread, can anyone else who purchased this set from the online store share their experience, too, please?

Thanks!

Hey guys! I had no issue with the actual purchase and delivery. My panel (actually a 75Z9D) had a minor issue and I had originally contacted the exchange to see about getting it exchanged...wouldn't recommend that except as a last resort. They wanted to just have mine picked up as a return/refund and for me to buy a new one outright. I contacted Sony about my issue and after going through their process (relatively painless) they authorized a swap and handled it on their end. So,bottom line...don't deal with the exchange for "issues" unless you absolutely have to but that being said...I would still recommend them since they are authorized and have GREAT prices (and were more than willing to refund me for the return with no hassle but not as painless as going through Sony).

So there you have it...

Nice. I actually checked out on with the 940D on AAFES earlier this week because it was still sitting in my cart after 15 days or so. During that period, I was using a page monitor to alert me of any changes to the webpage and the in stock date kept being pushed to right. Anyway, the price dipped back down from $3700 to $3400, so I said F it and placed an order because I didn't want the price to shoot back up. After the order was placed and confirmed, I called AAFES and mentioned earlier in the week, I was told I couldn't place the order because it was sold out. I told the lady I was a little irritated, since I could have completed the purchase when it was $2999.99.

Long story short, after about 10 minutes of conversing with the representative, I requested a manager, sent her screen shots of the pricing and my phone time stamps from my original conversation, and she refunded me the $400 difference to bring it back down to $2999.99. Also during my 940D monitoring period, my local NEX in San Diego had the XBR65X930D on sale during MLK Day, which I still need to pick up btw, but it's raining here, for $1499, too. So I purchased that as well. All-in-all, I can't complain since I got both sets for $4500.

On another another note, I considered waiting for the XD9s to hit rock bottom, but ... the 2 deals I got, for me, were too good to pass up. That said, if you don't mind me asking, what was the pricing when you got your ZD9?

Just received the XBR940D today from AAFES and I'll pick up the 930 in the next few days. I was slightly nervous my order wasn't going to be fulfilled since the site went from in stock on 01/22/17 to out of stock. Logged on to my ShopMyExchange account and finally saw movement.

BTW, any of you guys calibrate your TVs? I'm no expert, that's for sure. I vaguely recall playing some disc for my Pioneer Kuro for like 2 days or something crazy when I first got it. It's probably been like 8 years or so since that purchase, so the details are a little sketchy...

I guess I need to search the forums to see what I can come up with.

FYI: The Exchange is running a Presidents Day 15% off sale today, with the discount automatically applied to qualified items placed in your cart.

I just purchased the XBR-65Z9D for $3,824.15 ($4,499 - 15%). Unfortunately, the 75" Z9D is showing out of stock, but if interested you could try calling and asking a CSR if you could place an advance order today to take advantage of the sale price. If they honor it, that would reduce the price of the 75" to $5,949.15.

Also, they are now listing the new Sony OLED's (XBR-65AE1 @ $5,499 and XBR-55AE1 @ $3,999), but they are not yet in stock.

I know this is an old thread, but I was reading it and wasn't even aware of the online military exchange. I am a vet, however I don't qualify to use it since I got out before retiring. The reason for my posting though is this bit of info I found in case it will affect anyone else:

https://www.defense.gov/News/Article...ng-to-veterans

WASHINGTON, Jan. 13, 2017 — The Defense Department announced today that veterans will soon be able to shop online at military exchanges.
The policy change will extend limited online military exchange shopping privileges to all honorably discharged veterans of the military, DoD officials said in a news release

The shopping benefit will be effective this Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2017.

Good to know, especially if they are tax-free.

Wow that's really cool. Another way to say "thank you for your service.' My dad is a vet (WWII) - anyone know how you'd go about enrolling for this benefit once it goes live?

Stuck up, half witted, scruffy looking, nerf herder.
Double True!

Well, today it uses your SSN, date of birth, and name. Of course, anyone who knows the government (especially in WWII) knows that they may not actually have records, so I would imagine if that is the case, he would need his DD-214 (or equivalent) as proof which is the case for most things dealing with the military.

Ah yes! Makes sense thanks. He did indeed jump through hoops some years back to generate that (or equivalent) for...something. I'll dig it up when the time comes. Thanks again.

Just to refresh instead of starting a new thread. I went on about a month ago and put in my info and got a message saying I was all set (as a veteran, not retired or active duty) to use this service starting on Veterans Day later this year. Yesterday I received an email to use the "beta" of shopmyexchange.com.

Worked fantastic and TV prices were great. I just purchased the Sony X900E from BB for $1999 with no tax in DE. The same TV is priced at $1699 and of course no tax.

I used my Chase card so I'm going to see if I can get the $300 difference back with price match since BB will not match this site because you need a login to see the price. It says it is a sale through tomorrow on this TV. Hopefully Chase matches and I get $300 back. If not, then my next hope is that this is what the going price is and I'll order from them and return the one to BB that I have set up now. Believe it or not that's what the BB representative told me to do. Crazy they would do that but whatever.

Hopefully some other veterans out there will get immediate access and will not have to wait. I am so happy that many are doing more to promote benefits for all that served, not just active duty and retirees.

Thanks for the bump, I hadn't seen this post before and didn't even think of checking with military exchange. The Sony XBR75X940E is $500 less than most other stores and with no sales tax. Pretty good deal. I'm sure you can still get stuff cheaper from some of the shady online dealers though, but it's nice to know this option is available.
