Vizio Quantum Dot PQ65 $1399

https://www.costco.com/Vizio-65%2...24390.html

This deal will start on 16th Nov and will be valid till 26th Nov.

I got this information from slick deals and it was part of a recent flyer that was mailed out to Costco members
I think you can also order online if you are not a Costco member and pay the 5% upcharge

You should be able to price match at other places as well....though you might want to use Costco for their long longer warranty

That's an amazing deal for a tv that rivals the Samsung Q9FN... Makes me sad Vizio didn't release a 70-75" version.

agreed
a 75" at about the $2000 mark would be a game changer

I am not a Costco member, there are none in my state. A membership is $60. The 5% upcharge for non-members would be $70.

Is this Viz the best deal for 65 to 75" under $1500? I am also looking at the Samsung QLED for $1300. Opinions? Advice for me? I need great pic, don't care about sound as I have a nice Klipsch setup.

its working for me
https://www.costco.com/Vizio-65%22-C...100424390.html

Unless you are looking at the Samsung Q9FN...I would buy this Vizio PQ65

As for sound ..I wouldn't care either
I doubt many people buying a 65" really care about the sound because they are using some type of external speaker system

Thanks, Warren. Thanks to the heads-up I got in this thread the Viz PQ65 at $1400 just went to the top of the list over the Samsung QLED 65.

I've been researching like crazy and I would not have even given the PQ65 a look because at $2000 it was out of my budget, but at $1400 it's just what I was looking for. I've been impressed by the rtings.com rating of 8.6 where the Samsung QLED 65 is rated at 8.0. Point-for-point the PQ65 beats the QLED 65 in every category.

Question: I've seen criticisms of other 65" Vizios because they just quit working after 2 years. I realize the PQ65 is a new design for 2018, but is there any reason I should be concerned about reliability?

It's a Vizio. There's always a concern about reliability. When they do work they are pretty decent, unless you use other smart apps that aren't apart of their platform, then you have to use external anyways. I have owned a couple M series, and one has bleeding already, and the other would constantly drop in and out of wifi. Price is where they get ya. Also the Quantam has bad viewing angles, so if you're going to have seating on the outside angles of the panel, I would do some more research on the angles on that television.

an extended warranty is your friend
I think you can get several years of coverage for about $100 though Costco at purchase time

I am looking at this deal as well. With Costco you get an additional year (so that is 2 standard). If you have their CC they will double that (I do not). You can by an additional 3 years for $99 I think (Squaredeal).

That being said, I assume with a Vizeo the thought is to purchase the additional warranty? Also, for around $900 I can get the TCL 65R. Is the picture on the Vizeo going to be that much better? Thanks all.

You can buy the Square Trade 3 year warranty at Costco even if you buy your set elsewhere as long as it is from an authorized dealer.

I think the general consensus is that the Vizio is better....I think the TCL is a 60hz panel as well correct?

I couldn’t find the p quantum on Costco’s website anymore. It was there a few days ago. Do you guys think they cancelled the deal and removed that tV indefinitely or will put it back up later this week in accordance with the date of when the deal is?

They will honor their ad. So just check the website on Nov 16th when it goes live. They probably removed it so they can hold a lot of stock for the sale.

I hope so. I got an email today from them with a link to their Black Friday TVs, and it's not shown there, either: https://www.costco.com/black-friday-...ngsToBigToWrap

Does anyone know from prior experience what time Costco deals go live on the website? Do I need to be up at midnight for this or is it usually sometime early in the morning in that 6-10 am sort of range? Thanks.

Setup: There is no Costco in my state, this would be on-line only. I'll buy a $60 membership and order the best TV I can find for $1500 (could stretch slightly). The rtings.com TV size to Distance chart says that since I sit at least 10' away a 75" is the right size for me. I really want the PQ but I also really want the 75" size, maybe even the hundreds less 70" class.

I watch mostly TV mostly sports, living room with no brightness issues. No gaming at all. The built-in speakers will not be used.

The Viz PQ65 $1400 is the leader in the pack. Although the size is smaller than recommended, the Viz PQ65 picture quality is best for a non-Oled according to rtings.com. If you think the Viz reliability is not good I would drop Viz altogether for a Sony/Samsung/LG 75".

Variables: I've seen several 75" TV's at local Sam's Club in the $1500 range, including Samsung, LG. These prices are not on the web site, in-store only. The PQ looks great but these are store demo feeds and I don't trust them for real-world watching. Despite that, I do trust the big brand names.

Here's what I think I want to do. Change my mind (or suggest alternatives)

Get the Vizio PQ65 from Costco. $1400 and extended Square deal warranty.

I called costco today. The link to the PQ65-F1 says it is out of stock. When I called, the person on the phone indicated they will NOT be getting any more in stock for BF. He may be wrong, but it also might be a case that they're holding back stock. I plan to check in on this though.

It could also be that "stock" refers to items in stock on the store shelves. They might have them on-line. When I check the on-line link it shows the Viz PQ65 at $2100.

Every on-line store I've checked also shows the $2100 price. No store other than Costco has come even close to that $1400 price point.

This is an ONLINE ONLY @ COSTCO.COM deal. When I called I asked him specifically if it would be available online and he said NO. It was out of stock online and it would remain that way.

If watching TV/Sports from satellite/cable feeds is your primary use you may be underwhelmed by the Vizio's upscaling, not to mention a 65 inch screen from 12 feet away. It is top notch for 4K HDR though.

The Samsung NU8000 75 inch might be a better bet for you, also from Costco.

I second your sentiment.

I was ready to call Costco at midnight and get that Viz into the mail. I guess we can't really get mad at Costco since technically that ad was leaked, not released.

My next choice at that price point was the Samsung QLED 65, $1300 at Sams Club. I'm also looking at Samsung 75's but I'll address that in my next post.

I checked the NU8000 75" out very carefully tonight at local Sams Club, $1580. It's $80 over budget but I can handle it. It has a beautiful picture and for me it would be between the Samsung QLED 65 at $1300 and the NU8000 75". I prefer a larger 75" at this time over a higher quality 65.

My problem (and please help me here) is I am reading reviews from owners who are complaining about the NU8000 and 2018 Samsung models in general who say there is a crackling noise upon start up. I've had another TV that did this and it is quite annoying.

Amazon Review Quote:
Quote:
For an entire 10 minute span every single time the TV turns on, I hear a loud, annoying ticking emanating from the area below all the inputs. The ticks happens exactly 20 seconds apart, then 19 seconds apart, then 18 seconds apart, continuing in this pattern until they get down to 5 seconds apart. The ticking then stops. Given the pattern and consistency, I can pretty confidently say that this wasn't a "creaking chassis from heat" type of thing. I'm sure this is some component initializing (not sure what exactly though), but this was extremely annoying to hear on every startup of the TV.
Comments? Other suggestions? Is there a 75 from another brand in that $1500 range you want me to look at?

I have the paper flier in my hand right now, we got it a few weeks ago. I think that makes it pretty official. If it really is OOS (as it shows right now) on the 16th, that's kind of crappy, IMO. However, Costco has an excellent reputation for customer service, so I'm still holding out hope.

So, what's your thinking on this? Go ahead and call at midnight tonight and see what they say?

I don't mind doing that but I need a Plan B, but right now Plan B is a 75" and I'm not getting good reliability reviews from owners of brand name 75" sets in the $1500 range.

Maybe I should reconsider the Samsung Qled 65? I'd rather go 75 if I can't get the Viz PQ65.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I can still add it to my cart, and I *think* Costco will adjust it to the sale price once that goes into effect, but I'm not 100% certain on that. I'll probably check at midnight and see if the price has dropped, and if it has, I'll place my order. If not, I'll check tomorrow.

My Plan B is the 65" X900F at Best Buy on Black Friday, but that's several hundred dollars more.

Would you mind checking back in with how your experience went? I'm starting to chicken out.

My problem is there is no Costco where I live. I could save money via no state sales tax but if something is not right with the TV, I don't have a local store to return it to. If I have to pay shipping back I know Costco has a great return policy but now I've paid out at least $100 shipping and I don't have a TV.

I'm thinking now that I'll probably shop my local Sams Club unless you come back with a success story buying that Viz PQ65 that eases my mind.

No pressure there.

My problem (and please help me here) is I am reading reviews from owners who are complaining about the NU8000 and 2018 Samsung models in general who say there is a crackling noise upon start up. I've had another TV that did this and it is quite annoying.

If you get a TV that is crackling etc, clearly that is faulty and you have 90 days to return it if you buy at Walmart, Sam's, Costco. For Costco if you receive online free shipping, free return pickup is also available. Not sure if Sam's will do that but usually they match Costco. Either that or accept that you'll have to put in the effort to return it to a warehouse store.
