Sony 75" Z9F or 65" A9F? Price

Black Friday here where I live.. so these prices are ONLY for me! ( Not sure if they are good or bad.. just what I can get today and a quick and dirty exchange rate, but it gives perspective.)

What would you get..
Sony 75" Z9F for $3800
or
Sony 65" A9F for $3000

or
Sony 75" Z9D for $4000

Again, I guess it comes down to size vs Picture quality? Whats more important for me.. and I have no way of looking at the TVs before I purchase them..

Considering this is the first TV I have ever purchased.. whats the verdict on buying 2 year old tech instead of new sets?

Well my theory is give up a little picture quality for size. 75 inches is humongous!

I’m kicking tires for a 75 or 77 for my new place. Looking at Black Friday prices.

I will probably stay OLED. I have the older C6 65 but I am not an LCD hater by any means.

I was reading about the latest Sony. It sounds the latest processor is awesome but they cut dimming zones greatly in the new set.

I thought the first Z looked pretty damn good.

Processor or more zones? I’ll let the owners and experts chime in but I would consider the original if available and 600 plus zones vs 100 plus zones. Sounds they were hoping the new processor could compensate but I wouldn’t think this to be true.

Read about one reviews opinions on black and blooming between the two.

I imagine the C8 versions of OLED have nicely improved over my C6. Maybe need to go take a look over Black Friday weekend.

I think you made the right choice.

Well, it might be 2 years old but Sony has yet to release a better set.

I agree, he made the right choice. The 75" Z9D has 800 dimming zones and IMO the zone count on the Z9D trumps the faster processor of the Z9F.

No doubt he made the right choice. The Z9D is truly a heckuva display and the idea of there being a major difference in tech from late 2016 to now is laughable.

Good move! Great set. Z9f is a poor home theater display(dark room performance) and a9f has burn-in and ABL issues. You bought the best LED ever made.

This is a far superior set than the 75inch z9f. That's a blooming/haloing mess. More zones and stronger black bar performance= better home theater display. The 75 z9f was made for a lot less and has a weaker build-quality. There's a reason it's sold for only 6gs, and the z9d was 10gs at release. It may be two years older, but I'll take a 2016 Ferrari over a 2018 Toyota. The darn thing is wrapped in NASA aluminum material for crying out loud. Enjoy!

Burn in issues are way overblown, so that is fake news on the A9F or even OLED. My Dad has one of the orginal LG OLED, watches sports and news all the time and never has had any burn in. Get sick of hearing this stuff. Same people who said Plasma had burn in. I have had my Kuro for 12 years and no burn in. Father in law has plasma watches news all day - no burn in.

A9F is top tv out today. ZD9 is good too, but if I had to choose in 65 it would be A9F. There is no comparison.

To say it's not an issues is a disservice to everyone looking for a new TV, sorry. It is a real issue. There is plenty of evidence of it. Will it happen to you is another story but it happens and can happen.
My plasma I bought when I was about 20 years old had screen retention before I knew when what the hell it was. I remember the Jurassic Park DVD menu was stuck on the screen for some time.

Sorry - just don't believe you. Again, I have two parents with OLED's that watch news all the time. No burn in. So, people like you that are always saying plasma and OLED have burn issues is just false. Can it happen - yes, but is it a major problem, no....

Also - I have had plasma's - always Pioneer for over 15 years and no burn in what so ever..... Can't have anymore experience than that!

I didn't say it was a major problem. I said it can and does happen. You said it wasn't a problem at all and that is a disservice to those looking for a new display. It happens. People should be aware. You spend 10 grand on a 77 inch OLED and then it's ruined by screen burn in.

Again.. prices does not reflect the reality. Its a quick and dirty exchange rate conversion, that shows of the price difference in my country.

The Z9D was just 5% more expensive then the Z9F.. and I got the last Z9D sold in my country after eyeing it for more then a year.

I hope its true, but I just ordered my 75z9f from Amazon for under $4800 delivered. The TV is listed as being sold by Sony and fulfilled by Amazon.

Yup, they have this deal for some time now. It's tempting, I am personally still in the hope that LG OLED 77 drops by another 500 to 4000-4200 from buydig or greentoe. Not sure if I should still wait.

NASA aluminum is awesome!!!

This technology uses precise chemistry to improve the mechanical properties of cast aluminum products, which demonstrate substantial increases in impact toughness due to the improvement in tensile strength and ductility. The steps necessary to complete the thermal coating process proceed more quickly using this new alloy the heat treatment process is much shorter, and the aging process has been optimized in conjunction with the powder or paint-baked coating process. It also offers improved corrosion resistance meeting or exceeding the performance of A356-T6 alloy, as well as offering significant cost-savings over forging 6016-T6 alloy when elongation is less than seven percent. Because of its superior tensile strength coupled with significant process improvements, choosing NASA- 427 yields energy and cost savings for both the manufacturer of cast aluminum components and the end-user.

In which planet OLED burn in is a fake news? I just had a burn in on my OLED and I'm from earth. People with OLED burn in may not even realize it until they perform some panel test.

So if you have burn in and don't realize it why is it an issue? Was your viewing experience impacted by this or is it only that some panel test told you that you should be bothered by it?

My viewing experience doesn't negate that OLED burn-in is real and can happen to anyone under normal viewing conditions.
