65" TCL Series 6 / 65R617 $747

$747 at Target after extra 5% with RedCard - link

Edit: What they are actually offering is 10% off with RedCard where it's usually 5%. This deal runs through April 6. The 617 is a good deal because the regular price was recently reduced. Price is reduced to $737 but they charge $10 disposal fee on TV purchases.

Sounds like it's actually just under 10% -- they take off 5%, then take the regular 5% off the 95%.

Right...9.75% to be precise

You can also opt for the TCL 65" TV 65S423 $451.24 With RedCard and Promo Code link

Not near the TV but 65" for $450 is crazy. (55" for approx $315)

Sale end tomorrow evening.

I advise on not getting the TCL. There is a reason why the price is so low its because they are terrible. I am talking about the panels and the uniformity. Go read the reviews. TCL is a GREAT BUDGET TV. Not a GREAT PREMIUM OR HIGH END tv. Just saying.

Is anyone coming to a TCL deal thread looking for a premium high-end TV?

TCL is a crappy tv. Why do people buy this brand. If thier panels were good then yes but to many QC problems.

Not a top tier TV but for the money they are probably the best, as long as you get a decent panel. They have suffered some QC issues so far.

You can get it now for $720 from Electronic Express via Rakuten.com or $490 for the 55"

Amazon has the TCL 55R617 on sale for $522, 65R617 for $794, and 75R617 for $1,565 All of these are currently eligible for 15% cash back bonus when you purchase with your Amazon Prime card. This effectively makes the price $443 for 55", $675 for 65", and $1,330 for 75" shipped, pre-tax but still look like the best price I've seen on 55/65 models to date,

Vizio has panel lottery as well. For most people saving twice the cost over a much higher priced Sony/Samsung even if you have to exchange the tv is worth it.

Also I really do think their QC has been improved with the 6-series 75" releasing 8 months later than the 55" and 65". They likely knew this was an issue and worked to improve it before releasing the big one at the $1899 launch price... otherwise the January release just doesn't make any sense. If you read tons of reviews on all of them, you see high return rates on the 55 and 65, then much lower on the 75.

Anyway, that trend was enough for me to pull the trigger when the Best Buy version dropped to $1299 on the daily deal. Then it turns out my first panel has very very low DSE, even after running full-white test patterns and watching a full hockey game on it (go Blues ). There are definitely slight variations, but I have to work to pick it out in hockey, and absolutely can't find it with HDR-movie-type content.

All that is to say the panel lottery still probably does exist for the 75", but it's operating in an entirely different range than the 55-65. Some of those smaller ones from last year are just laughable in their splotchiness, while even the few returns you do hear about for the 75" are of the "well this is pretty dang uniform, but I want perfection" type.

I'm getting my tv delivered this week, hope I get lucky. What settings did you use for the tv?

I almost feel like its better not to go hunting for minor defects and nitpick and enjoy the tv if there are no obvious issues in normal usage.

Oh I'm still very much figuring the settings out. The defaults for HDR content actually seem really good (after you turn off the motion smoothing/clarity effects of course). For hockey the ice was way over saturated or something with the default settings, I managed to fix it but I'm probably gonna tinker more with that.

As for not hunting for problems, you are 100% correct. But I ran test patterns immediately because I wanted to know right away if I'd need to return it. If you watch any hockey (even just playoff hockey like me...) a full-white screen is almost *less* strenuous a test than watching a real game where panning side to side across white ice would draw attention to dark spots even more than just looking at a still screen. Hockey is really on a whole different level as far as needing a uniform screen, maybe football on bright turf would be the only thing in the same ballpark. Also I'm a scientist and can't resist actually testing things lol.

On sale at Best Buy

I just got the 65 inch from Best Buy for $699. That is the cheapest I have seen it so far. Part of the 4 day Memorial Day sale. At this price the TV is a no brainer. I wanted a 75" but will just wait until next year for that when I can get 8K!

Wow that's an awesome price! I got the first run about a year an a half ago and it's been a great TV! I didn't have any uniformity issues on mine. There are youtube tests for uniformity. Just take it home and enjoy!

My parents are in the market and I turned them on to this. They placed the order. Told them it was a very good deal for a well regarded budget TV. Should be a great improvement for them.

I own the 55 and 75 inch versions. I'm sure your parents will not be disappointed.

I currently have the 55inch that I bought from Costco, which I bought for the bedroom. It's still in the return period. Should I upgrade? Currently the tv sits 8ft away from where I lie down on the bed. However, after I mount it, it will slightly 10 feet away. I am only concerned that I will get a bad panel, as my 55 is great and the fact that the larger size will be too bright. My wife says the tvs too bright(mind you its on the lowest brightness setting) as it is. I also doubt want to go through the hastle of returning the old one and buying the new. Suggestions? For a 100 bucks, this is really difficult.
Update: Nevermind. Costco square trade doesn't cover Best Buy products.

I snagged one of these with the awesome Best Buy deal today in hopes that it might be able to replace my Panasonic Plasma in my living room and make the jump to 4k and HDR without losing too much as far as black levels go. But after I got it home and un-boxed the screen was cracked at the bottom. I returned it and Best Buy gave me some grief about how it was transported which was almost flat in my SUV, but in the end they agreed to replace it but I'm having the second one delivered because I don't want there to be any problems or blame on my end if the second one has a similar issue. They are supposed to deliver it in the morning, crossing my fingers I get a good panel.

I recently bought a second TCL 65R615 from Best Best for $499 plus tax. My first one was probably $899. It is not being delivered until January 6th so I still can cancel. Was going to replace one that has a ton of hours on it and use the old one somewhere else.

Is this a wise decision or should I have purchased the newest technology? Saw this today regarding TCL new line (I wouldn’t wait this long):
