It looks like I've narrowed it down to these three:

https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product...641744&irgwc=1
https://gibbyselectronicsupermarket....y-xbr-75x800g/

Each are around $1500, with the 75" purportedly having a higher discount.

Of these three is there one to recommend? I looked at the 75" TCL 6 series, but it was only $100 off.
The Sony 800G is two models lower than the 900F. The 900f is far superior but it has owner complaints about dim Dolby Vision. FYI, I have the 75" 900F.

I would wait until Boxing Day for a good deal on the TCL 75R615

I should also add that, I too, am in a similar situation as yourself (I am still working with a 65" 1080p panel that I've had for several years), and if I were to upgrade today, it would 100% be the Sony 900F (75"/85").

[EDIT] I do have the 49" Sony X800E in my bedroom and it has been a great TV, and has a great picture quality.

Could the 800G work for you? Perhaps, but I really can't say that for sure. That really depends on "your" needs (wants ), and what you're willing to spend to get it.

The TCL 6 series is the best TV that you can get in its price range, even with only $100 discount. It easily bests the low/mid Sony and Samsung sets you are looking at.

My humble main system:
Vizio M75-E1; Oppo 203 universal UHD player; Denon 4300H AVR, Dual PSA S1801's; Monitor Audio Silver RX-6 mains, RX center, and RX surrounds; one pair NHT mini Atmos speakers; Home-built HTPC (Xeon E1230, 16gb RAM, Crucial M500 480gb SSD, GeForce 980Ti, Corsair CX600, CoolerMaster mini-ITX case); Roku Premiere+; Amazon 4K Fire TV
