Originally my rebate showed as "Submit Date" Jul 11 - later it changed to "Date Processed" - July 25th and Current Status" shows as In Process. Thats where its been stuck for the last few weeks.

Oddly, I noticed that the Offer shows as EA987 HC5040B/UBE LAMP DEC-JAN where as I had submitted using July rebate form
Update: Received my Bulb today. Website status still shows as processing. Total time from submission to bulb in hand - approx 9 Weeks

order issues

im having a hard time getting the order to go through. Its been cancelled 3 times on two different CC's. Called the CC company and they said they approved the purchase but epson said there was an issue on the CC side. I checked out as a guest yesterday so I will wait for the ship or cancelled email from them.

Same issue I had. Seems like they like to make you work for it. I was on the phone with the twice asking what’s going on? Was always you cc didn’t match your address or phone number or your cc company said no. All bs. Eventually mine went thru, but it was a aggravating experience.

Man, I’m still waiting on my bulb. Status shows processed on July 3, so I’m going on like 11 weeks here. Not like I’m in a huge rush, but still.

Same here, didn't see the update on the Epson site about the rebate but the free lamp was delivered via USPS.

Ok I spoke too soon. I just received my bulb from USPS as well. As long as my PJ doesn’t crap out early like some people here, I will be very happy.

I'm wondering the same thing. Contemplating pulling the trigger but may just wait until October 1 to see if they bring the deal back. Who knows?

Your rebate request for the offer shown above is currently being processed. Please allow 6 - 8 weeks from the Date Received shown above for processing.

My rebate bulb arrived.

I ordered my initial projector in April. Filed for the rebate in July (after legibility had expired, but some members here said it’d work anyway as Epson doesn’t deny bulb rebates and that I should try it). I got the bulb late last week.

Sweetens the deal considerably to get a $200-$250 bulb.

form sent in early July and just got my spare bulb today, also had forgotten

Another cool thing is finally getting around to programming my XFinity X15 remote last week for my Yamaha receiver's volume and power button, and it now turns on not only the receiver but also the 5040 with one button click. Still have to use the Epson remote to turn it off, but a step saved nonetheless.

Just an FYI this is back in stock, 28 units. I just grabbed one. Thanks to this forum for helping me!

Also FYI - Epson security called me a few minutes later to confirm the order was valid and left a message saying they wouldn't ship until I confirmed, so if you get a call from a California area code right after you order, answer it

Bizarrely, I paid for next day shipping, FedEx arrived and I wasn't able to get to the door...So...Epson requested Fedex return the shipment....?? Instead of just holding it at my local FedEx facility or trying delivery again next day...What kind of nonsense is that?

So I called FedEx and they said they still had it at the local facility, it'd ship back to Epson the next afternoon and Epson would need to change that. So then I called Epson, and they said sorry it's already shipped back to us, we'll have to send you a replacement - I told them it was still sitting in my local facility per Fedex, they said yeah sorry we'll just send you a replacement. So replacement will be here on Wednesday....Hopefully I don't miss the delivery or else who the **** knows what Epson will do with the shipment???

I asked for a refund of my next day shipping costs given how stupid their process is, they refused but ultimately escalated my request.

Been waiting around all morning for FedEx, decided to call Epson to confirm delivery was for today and get a tracking number. Oops, they didn't ship the replacement overnight, so been waiting around for nothing...It will be here tomorrow so I get to wait around all day tomorrow.

Epson is off to a prettayyyy bad start with me.

FYI - I also posted this over on the main owners thread..so go easy on me if you see a double post.

Hi all,

I have had my refurb 5040ub for a a couple months now. Love the projector! However, lately I have been experiencing flicker on Power Consumption=Eco mode, somewhat less flicker on Medium mode, and no flicker on High mode. I did some research and found that flicker can be a common problem with 'low power' modes for projectors in general. However, I have not experienced this with any projector until now.

Since the projector is under warranty, I'm assuming I should contact Epson and see what they have to say? Does anyone have experience with the 5040UB and ficker issues? Do they have you try a new bulb before sending it in?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

running the lamp on high for several hours has helped with this problem in the past in some cases. try it you have nothing to loose

Projector flicker can be caused by electrical components failing or poor wiring connections but is most often caused by irregular lamp wear. As @carlb1 notes many have cured lamp flicker by switching from low lamp to high lamp for some hours. There's a brief technical description of the cause of projector UHP lamp flicker at the link below:

I have been running the lamp on high and it works fine with no flicker. Unfortunately, it hasn't helped the low power modes at all.

I emailed Epson and they agreed it may be a lamp issue. They just sent me out a new lamp to try. I'll have to say...I'm impressed with their customer service! I'll post again once I get it installed and try it.

FYI, when my old Panny developed lamp flicker in low lamp I had to run it in high lamp for a couple of weeks before I could switch back to low lamp without flicker. Some have said it took more than 100 hours in high lamp to eliminate flicker. Others have had no luck at all. It varies from projector to projector and from lamp to lamp. Your experience with Epson is consistent with the excellent customer service others have documented on this forum. Let us know how it works. I wouldn't throw the old lamp away, either, because it could serve as a backup and possibly be revived by running many hours in high lamp.

It's mostly a lamp issue. I ran mine for over 300h in high lamp (after 2500h) and it did fix the flicker.

cant beat that you just got a new lamp. Im sure its a lamp issue not the projector. after verifying the new lamp works well put the old one back in and run it on med or high. keep the new one as a spare.
