I saw it in stock last week Tuesday or Wednesday, and didn’t pull the trigger. I have been regretting it ever since, and checking dozens of times through the day. I haven’t seen it back in stock since.

So I have the pulsar as well and the projector sita about 15ft away for 120". A couple more feet would be ideal because there is a very slight amount of Hotspotting where it directly hits. However it is incredibly good still

Yeah I'm in the same boat 120 Pulsar in DIY, about 16.5 feet away. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on DES with Stephen. Hopefully its here by the finale and I'm not stuck with a screen and no projector! How long did it take your screen to come, and did you get the DIY version?

Yes diy I will snap a couple pics tomorrow when I'm home. I want to finish with a small frame but I love it. I went from the abyss to the pulsar for the extra gain as it's in my living room. Was using the px747 until now. I believe 3ish weeks but don't quote me on that

Quick tip for anyone who didn't use the promo code, Since i didn't know there was a 15% off i called them & told them that i forgot to add the promo code & they credit it -$187.98 back to my payment . So it was about 1,097.63 for my projector Not bad .

Nice glad you got them to match it. I missed out on the first time it went on sale. Just browsing around I found the code randomly and used it when it came back on sale. No tax in NH so it was under 1k all said and done. No complaints from me

Got some more time with my projector, and realized the top right has a pink hue to it when hooked up to a PC. Any ideas? I created a ticket with Espon. My color uniformity is all at 0, my panel alignment all looks good with minimal tweaking. Focus is great across the whole screen. Darn that pink corner. The minor dust blobs I determined weren’t worth fussing over.

How did you manage that? I called twice today and both times they said once an order was placed the order cannot be altered. I tried option 1 and option 2 on the keypad.

Archaea, I think you made the right choice in getting a ticket for this issue.

One thing you could do is try adjusting the panel alignment in that top corner section of the screen, and see if that can fix it if it is a color convergence issue.

Actually you said that you already did your panel alignment.

Hmm...could it me an HDMI cable issue? That is very weird. So does it show with any other sources?

Yeah it's the panel I'm guessing.

Epson sent me back and e-mail asking me to try it with no source attached. I did, and in the color uniformity menu on slide 8 of 8 it has pink in the top right corner. I tried a different HDMI cable and a different PC and it was the same thing to just to make sure it has to be the projector. It's such a little area - probably like 3-4% of the screen. Absent a white screen I'm not sure you'd ever notice. I hadn't in my use so far. My PC image happened to be overblown just a little bit because my projector frame is made of wood and has warped out of square - so I overblew the image a bit to cover that fact. Today I was thinking, it's too far overzoomed, I can't even see the start bar easily and the close buttons are too high, so I backed the overzoom off a bit which is why I noticed it. It's not present in 2.35.1 because the top right is black bar content and off the screen. It's not even very visible on screen unless the screen is white and 16x9 - but yeah it's a big enough fault I'll be sending it back. It shouldn't be there -- customers wouldn't' accept a HDTV with discoloration in one corner, nor should we expect a projector with such. Maybe Epson has an engineering menu they can help me navigate to for some further fine tuning. I'm fine with that, because I find the rest of the projector characteristics acceptable.

Called epson, spoke to technical support. They had me do the same stuff I’d already done and agreed it was a faulty panel. She said they would overnight me a replacement and I should send back my current one via prepaid shipping label.

Epson has great customer support, we will see if their quality control can match. My past experiences don’t give me a lot of confidence. If you never hooked up a PC to this projector or were a casual user you may not even ever notice the little pink hue, but it’s definitely there.

Anyone run into an issue where the projector just turns itself off randomly? I have sleep mode disabled so that can't be it.

I also noticed I have wireless on however I can't seem to find an access point to get it on the network. Does the 5040ub not have wireless network connectivity?

Figured id ask you guys before I contact support

if sleep mode disabled on projector - what about connected devices? I saw similar issues if appletv were connected and had sleep timer on.

Mike nice call I have a shield TV and noticed tonight it's remote controls the projector if it puts the nvidia to sleep its possible its pouring the projector to sleep good thinking. I'll have to see what my options are so that it can still sleep but not put the projector to sleep

Just turn off HDMI-CEC. It doesn't have much use for a projector. I use a harmony to turn on/off everything. HDMI CEC can just cause too many headaches.

If it ain't in HD, it ain't worth watching!
