I just checked mine and it says "processing", so I guess I'll wait and see.

Sorry to hear about the cancellation. Strange that they canceled your order from yesterday and had more available today?! I got notification from fedex earlier today that it was on its way. Good luck, if you decide to snag one again!

There are several test pattern screens in the GUI menus

The easiest way IMO is to hook the projector up to a PC or laptop via HDMI and verify everything looks good

Check for focus uniformity, color uniformity, no dead or stuck pixels, test nothing displayed but the projector on with no ambient light in the room and make sure there are no greenish blurry spots.

They're up! I'm thinking of holding out for a 5050, but wanted to let everyone know there's some on site.

Got one! Saw the notice of a new past to this thread, so went straight to the product page and made it through the process. Thanks to all on here who have been posting availability. This is a great deal, and should be quite an upgrade from my ViewSonic Pro8100.

You gotta hand it to Epson, they are certainly keeping us on our toes waiting for more inventory to become available. Still no luck for me yet, but I'm hopeful.

Not me and not anyone I know, but this is a good deal on a good mount for the 5040UB if anyone needs one.

This mount kit MSRP is $300 and it’s a full kit that comes with the 6040UB

$25 on eBay.

I posted this in the main thread, but the lens shift on the one I received yesterday does not work. Anyone else see that?

Yes. I ordered mine yesterday and it is due to arrive tomorrow. It doesn't hurt that it ships from Indiana and I live in Chicago.

Of course I'm traveling tomorrow, and the shipment requires a signature, so I'm hoping it comes later in the day when someone will be home to sign for it.

Mine just got delivered, this thing is huge! There is nothing in the box regarding warranty etc - just register on the website for warranty? Don't have a HT setup yet but will connect it later tonight, project on a wall and check it out. This doesn't have an inbuilt speaker does it? Also any recommendations for videos etc to test it out? Thanks!

What in blazes? I’ve got 10 hours on my third refurbed Epson 5040UB and all the sudden a bright green dot appears in the top right??? My room is not overly dusty. There is no way that should appear like that in 10 hours of use. My previous Panasonic was coming up on five years old and didn’t have anything like this...

Sigh...I’ll call Epson back again...

You are simply not destined to own a 5040, your run of crappy luck is simply incredible...

So, we received our projector yesterday and we have green dust blobs 😐 My understanding is that we now wait until they’re showing in stock and have to call Epson to start the swap out process. Any tips from someone who has successfully navigated this process?

take up drinking?

it dulls the pain.

Put your current unit's serial number in this thread. I'd like to see if we are just getting each other's units without being fixed.

At what point do you give up and demand a refund? Epson says no returns on refurbs unless defective. I think you have a case.

Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that customer service told them the current promotion for a free replacement bulb with the purchase of a 5040 did not apply to the refurbs. This is not the case. I read the fine print on the form and there was nothing about refurbs, only units that are used and sold by other parties are not eligible. I sent my rebate form in and received an email that my free replacement bulb is on the way. I was able to use the 15% code (I bought mine in April) and combined with the free bulb ($300 value), this projector ended up costing me $750 including tax. Unreal. The free bulb promotion expires on 5/31 and can be found here: https://epson.com/estore-rebate - scroll down about half way and you'll see the deal. Below is the mount I am using.

So I called the customer service line just to start what might be a difficult process. The first person I spoke with asked about the problem and specifically asked what the source was. I said there was no source and that we observed the problem on a blank screen with nothing attached to the pj.

She then said she was transferring me to some projector troubleshooting line and we repeated the problem. The person on that line quickly said it would need to be replaced and took all our info (name, address, order #, serial #, problem description, order date) again. She then said they’d ship a replacement unit out (and underscored “exact same model”) and we’re supposed to ship this one back when it arrives.

Won’t ship til Monday so really hoping I don’t get a “we’re sorry but...” email in the meantime! (I’ll post here if so!)

So maybe call today?

There's a reviewer that posted pics of his 5040 and this mount and that's what sold me. Solid mount so far and very adjustable.
