But I don't blame you or anyone for wanting to skip them. We all have our reasons and our money is precious. I've passed on a bunch of deals for various reasons, even when they were only $10-15.. Especially when they don't include the extended cut, no immersive audio, etc.

Agreed, but when the overwhelming responses are bad, AND I own the Blu-ray, my desire to buy it flies out the window!

And FWIW, there is a box set that included all five movies, $49.99 at Amazon. Would be a no-brainer for me if the opinions of the transfer (particularly if the first two) were better.

I may have missed it...but just curious...what does "bad" mean? And is this pertaining to the BD version, 4K version, all versions? Thanks!

I must have missed that. I'm usually looking at prices from lowest to highest trying to find the good deals.

While I too own some of these movies on BD and HD-DVD, I'd still like to know. Blackjackmark, do you have any sources and/or links to the reviews about these or other UHD releases that were considered bad?

I know Ralph Potts and some others on AVS do reviews.

"Bad" in my opinion means that most of the 4k Bourne disks didn't look much better than HD (1080p) to me and judging from my signature there have been a lot of them I can compare to.

Agreed as I have many 1080's that look absolutely stunning when upscaled to 4K. In addition to lackluster transfers, I was looking for more descriptive terms like grainy, poor blacks, lack of contrast, poor sharpness, mediocre color saturation, etc.

I read the same. The first was the worse of all. It is a shame as I really enjoyed these. Maybe they'll redo them in the future (yea right).

If I didn't have them already, I'd consider it even with the reviews. I'll only double dip if the upgrade is compelling.

Not at all disputing that a particular critic finds the PQ undesirable but it is just one person's opinion. Like any movie or restaurant review, not everyone always agrees. Also, it would have been helpful to understand what aspect of the UHD was considered "bad." There are some enthusiast who don't mind less than stellar PQ because, plot, story line, acting, and audio (Atmos/DTS:X) are more important for them. Just wondering if anyone has personally seen these first hand and can define what "bad" is and quantify how bad? At only $10 each, for some, PQ may not be that important and would assist potential buyers with a buy or no buy decision.

Two threads with a lot of discussion. Again, I totally agree that everyone?s perception and level of what is considered ?good? varies greatly, but this was pretty overwhelming to me.

I've found that their reviews match up with my tastes close enough to trust them on this one.

I don't know, home video versions of movies shot on film are all aberrations to an extent, something that most reviewers don't always grasp. When I read that something pops, that's an aberration, film doesn't pop, video monitors running too much contrast they pop. Home theater is entertaining but the video as this point has a long way to go, higher resolutions are only the beginning.

Good price but looks like they're all Universal and they're not supporting Dolby Vision apparently.

Maybe they will re-release a lot of these at some point with Dolby Vision?

Or has Universal said they won't support DV?

Just grabbed Dunkirk at Target for $13 on sale. I'm happy with that price.

Here is Best Buy's sale

http://www.blu-ray.com/deals/?sortby...y&retailerid=2

I ordered The Dark Knight Trilogy(price matched for $54.99 at walmart) and Blade Runner 2049 last night at BB.com and chose store pickup and I didn't get any discount. I must have ordered wrong. Oh well. I already have them and will watch one or 2 tonight.

Here are all 3 Planet of the Apes movies in 4K for $28.72

For May the 4th, Best Buy has the whole Star Wars Saga is $50 off at $200. And if you're like me and only want a few, Target has the singles on sale for $23.99 + 15%, which brings them to a little over $20 each.
