LG UBK90/80 deals

I've heard about 'great deals' on this new player (UBK90), but so far, all I've been able to find is:

$227 at Fry's: https://www.frys.com/product/9536782...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Many other places have it for that price and Best Buy has it for $229: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-ubk9...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

Are these the 'great deals' everyone is talkng about?

If so, I'll sit tight until November when I ecpect we'll see the UBK90 available for less than half this price.,,

Well I managed to get one from an authorized retailer for $195, not going to complain. Pretty excited to put these UHD BDs I've been collecting for a while in use finally.

Where from? Missed the Cotsco deal on this. Current price is $220 which is compared elsewhere I've found.

Not sure if it is still active, but BuyDig had UBK90 for $149 yesterday. The price will show as $249 through most of the checkout process, until the final page it will show you actually paid $149. If that's gone, today is the last day for MassDrop at $179.

Well, Costco seems to be carrying the UBK90 for $200 now and prices close to that seem pretty widely available.

$150 from BuyDig sounds good and I'd be ready to pull the trigger on that deal if it was available but it says $227 and I'm not comfortable hitting 'pay' in the hopes that the confirmation shows that the actual payment was less that $227.

When in the BugDig process do you see the actual price you'll pay?

Are there any other channels like SlickDeals or Greenshoe (Greentoe?) where you can get the UBK90 for pricing closer to $150 than $200?

I tried Greentoe, but they were higher than Costco. I imagine the BuyDig deal is gone. I briefly saw the price when I added to cart... I'm guessing this was some sort of minimum advertised price thing.

Best Buy Online has the UBK90 for $199.99 and it includes a free Logitech 665 Universal Remote and 1 moth free of Tiki Live cable service. They will ring the Logitech remote up at full price and discount the UBK90 the amount of the Logitech. Not sure how long the deal is good for. If purchased in store you will probably have to tell the salesperson the deal as they seem to have no clue.

Very strange. I picked up the UBK90 at Best Buy this past Thursday for $199.99 but no remote was offered (I already have a Logitech 650 remote). Today it's selling for $299.99 with the Logitech 665 remote. Maybe I should go back to BB and ask them about getting the remote?

BB has also jacked the price of the Sony X700 up from $180 to $250. Are they trying to go out of business?

Looks like the price and deal just went away today. The free remote was showing on the website under a link that said "2 free items." I had to show the salesperson the link. Best Buy was out of the UBK90 so he was going to order one for me and said it would come with it. I pointed out that I highly doubted it was in the box and it was not showing up on the receipt. He (an assistant manager to boot...) said that they must have to ring it up then and said he would order one as the store was all out. I promptly walked over to a full box of them next to the UBK90 display model and brought one over....... It rang the UBK90 out at $149.99 and the remote at full price $49.99.

Probably going for this deal today. Seems like a steal.

Out of the movies that come with it, I'm looking for ones that will really pop with my new 65C8.

Thinking about:

Ready Player One
Interstellar
John Wick 2

Considering Wonder Woman but people say that it's a little grainy looking which was the directors intent.

It looks like this player is going to be on the Nov 16th Costco holiday ad for $139.99, if anyone is interested in getting it without the Harmony remote and 3 movies.

I saw that when I got the Holiday brochure. It's a great deal on an excellent player. It's online order only so if you are going to pull the trigger, I'd do it on the 16th or 17th. At this price they may not last.

yeah, great price.
for me the remote and movies were a nice bonus so I didn't mind paying the BB price.

for those not in need of either, jump on the Costco deal quick, I doubt they'll last long.

In addition the price dropped by $10 and is now at $129.99. This is probably the best value on a very good UHD player that you're going to find for some time.

Is Costco's UBKC90 identical to the UBK90?

If I recall correctly, the only drawback I recall for this player was lack of streaming apps (no Amazon ot Netflix, right?) - are there any other negatives of the UBK90 compared to the Sony X700 or Philip's player?

Costco's UBCK90 is identical to the ones selling in other retail stores as the UBK90. It only has Netflix and YouTube so far. Everything on Netflix is output in Dolby Vision and, on the standard HD stuff, that is not a pretty sight at times. There is no way to turn DV off on Netflix. YouTube is not locked into DV this way and displays normally. The 90 does, unlike the Sony X700, auto-sense DV or HDR10 discs and outputs them correctly. If you want streaming apps, pass the 90 up but the player is an excellent disc spinner and does a fine job with native Dolby Vision and HDR10 sources. It also up-scales Blu-rays to 4K very well. If you have other steaming devices (TV, Roku, AppleTV, etc) the UBCK90 is a great buy at Costco's current price.

Agreed that $129 is an outstanding price. Just ordered mine.

Was looking at the Panasonic 820, but at $129 for the LG vs. $500 for the Panasonic, I'll just have to live without the HDR mapping capability of the Panasonic.

Well, the LG doesn't support the version of DV needed for Sony TVs (Low-latency / Profile 5), so that might factor into your decision if you have Sony TV. The Philips has a problem with 3D Blu-ray playback and reportedly is slow-ish, and the Sony only has manual control of DV output.

I just ordered an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K for the black friday price of $35, so maybe I'll give up on the idea of an all-in-1 and pick up a UBCK90 just for playing disks...
