MartySub Flatpacks are Back!!

Hey everyone, I'm happy to announce the re-arrival of the MartySub flatpacks! After several months with no flatpacks available, my Dad and I have decided to take on this endeavor and provide quality flatpacks to the awesome members of AVS who want to build there own subs. For those of you unfamiliar with the MartySub it is a slot ported subwoofer that uses an 18" driver, originally designed by LTD02, it comes in a variety of sizes to fit your needs. It is without a doubt one of the best bang for your buck DIY subwoofers you can build. We have been speaking with chalugadp (the former maker of the MartySub flatpacks) about taking over providing these flatpacks and he has been extremely helpful in getting us started and has given us his blessing to proceed.

The MartySub comes in 5 sizes outlined below:

Full Marty: 2' x 25.5' x 4' ~ 17hz tuning in 11 cuft box
Mini Marty: 2' x 25.5" x 40" ~ 17hz tuning in 10 cuft box
Johnny Sub (I know it doesn't say Marty...): 2' x 25.5" x 32" ~ 18.5hz tuning in 8 cuft
Marty Cube: 2' x 25.5" x 2' ~ 20hz tuning in 4.75 cuft
Micro Marty: 21" x 25.5" x 21" (uses 15" driver) ~ 23hz tuning in 3.75 cuft.

This thread is only serving as a For Sale thread and any questions regarding the design, construction, drivers, output, etc. should be directed to the long-standing MartySub FAQ thread which can be found here https://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-di...tysub-faq.html. If you have specific questions related to the products we are offering you may ask them below or PM me. Again, we will not be answering questions that do not directly relate to the products we are offering. I am active in the DIY section of the forum and will gladly answer questions posted in those threads to try and help as much as I can, but lets leave that discussion to the DIY section please.

For those of you unfamiliar with myself or my Dad's woodworking abilities you can see full details of the design and construction of my "End-Table Marty Subs" which he built at the following link. https://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-di...sub-build.html. I will be handling everything on the AVS side of things (updating the thread, answering questions, taking orders, etc.) and he will be cutting/shipping the orders.

Flatpacks will be cut from 3/4" ultralight MDF and include all pieces necessary to assemble the enclosure including bracing. The only thing you will need to finish assembly is a drill/brad nailer, clamps, glue, and whatever you plan to finish the enclosure with (paint, veneer, Duratex, etc). All pieces will be labelled and a construction order list provided. The front double baffle will come pre-laminated and driver cutouts will be cut according to the manufacturer specs of the driver you have chosen and countersunk unless otherwise specified. A recessed cutout for a Neutrik NL4MPR Speakon connector will also be placed on the back panel positioned however you choose (Speakon connector not included, cutout may be omitted at buyers request).

Prices for the various flatpacks include ground shipping via Fedex to the Continental US (PM me for shipping to Canada) and will be sent as 2 separate packages due to weight. Discounts will be given for orders of 2 or more flatpacks, PM for details. Payment will be made using PayPal and be due when your flatpack is ready for shipping. A tracking number will be sent to you when your order has shipped. You can expect your flatpack to arrive in 2-3 weeks time. If we anticipate your order taking longer than 2-3 weeks we will let you know prior to your order being placed.

Prices:

Full Marty: $340
Mini Marty: $300
Johnny Sub: $285
Marty Cube: $265
Micro Marty: $230

We are not sure how long we will be offering these flatpacks but will be updating this thread regularly to keep everyone in the loop. Please feel free to PM me or post below with any questions regarding the flatpacks. Thank you.

Test fit of a Full Marty flatpack ready for shipment!

Cool- nice to see someone else offering this service.

Do you router the edges like a dado or rabbet joint? Or recess the woofer?

Sweet! Good luck with the business endeavor. I think if you get a Fedex account you will get a discount on shipping. I used to get like 30% off or something like that.

Have you compared Fedex to USPS for shipping rates?

If I were going to do that I'd offer it as an option that was charged for. Roundovers are easy but setting up the dados could take a little bit if you're using a dado blade or setting a router up.

It would be win for someone to want him to do that as he would be getting paid more for wood working while doing the same amount of packaging labeling etc.

I was just wondering- it makes glue up easy.

I have a few cool router bits for joinery that allow 90 degree angles, or butjoints etc...

Dado on MDF I would not use the TS. I would use the router table with a 3/4" bit and the fence set to make the depth right.

But I agree- extra work not needed. or cheaper without is desirable to many.

I just want everyone to know that squiers was totally cool in asking me about this (didnt need too). He seems like a straight up dude and i have no problem endorsing him as a trustworthy guy. Like all endevors he will have a few bumps in the beginning but after a few flatpacks he will be pumping them out like hot pancakes. In one year i made 100 subs for people in 40 of the 50 us states. I met a lot of great people and im sure squier will too.

Good luck with the new enterprise and remember to still keep some time for yourself.

My fishing passion has now bloomed into equal status as my home theater. I go out every weekend and my son caught this yesterday

Glad to see someone step up to offer these again.....

If I didnt have a kit already I would have been in touch trying to duplicate the end table subs you and your dad built, though I bet the price would be a lot more on those

My Setup | Custom MiniDSP Build | FS: If its For Sale, find it all (here)

Yea, the end tables were extremely custom and we have no plans of offering them as a flatpack. My dad said he would entertain the idea of building them for people but it would be local pickup only and we do not have a price set, it would be significantly greater than a flatpack though.

Understand 100%.

I would expect someone wanting a product of that caliber to expect to pay a premium for that kind of workmanship .

Anyway good luck!

if there are enough people in IL area that want a flatpack pm me! I want a couple for myself and looking for a few other people to offset the driving costs. Conversely, if someone would drive there and pick mine up I would compensate them as well....

Definitely good for folks that don't wanna start from scratch/don't have tools/skillz, cuz Dado flatpacks are like a jigsaw puzzle with only a handful of pieces.

Why waste $ on more cheap stuff, it's like challenging a dragon with a pocket knife.

Just to clarify our flatpacks do not come with Dados. That would greatly increase the time to make these and therefore the price. If we had a CNC then maybe, but making these by hand it is not an option.
