No way i am trusting a shipper with speakers that cost many 1000's.
I will wait until a local deal pops up.
I wouldn't mess with something weighing that much for sure. Speakers I shipped/bought were 100lbs or less. They were shipped in the original JTR packaging which is pretty much indestructible.

Waiting for a local deal is fine if you are waiting for mass produced popular speakers. The speakers I was looking for would never show up locally to me.

I do the same thing before i buy. Their was a guy selling parasound amp last year for a good price that i almost bit on. Looking through his old post i noticed he was having issues with it and that were never fixed. In his FS ad he didn't mention any issues nor did you admit to any issues when i asked him through PM. Red flag!!!

I've been a lurker on here for years but didn't start really posting until 2015-2016. Even with my low post count I've sold quite a few things with zero issues. Communication is very important i answer all questions almost immediately (set instant notification). My last transaction was paypal friends and family with a very "prominent" member on here and had no problems.

Use that search function you can learn a lot about someone imho. Theirs a chance they've posted their full name (search facebook page for my info).

OP good luck getting your money back i'm sorry for your loss.

I am always upfront about anything i sell and always offer a full refund if the buyer is not happy. My ratings speak for themself on Astromart. Just that i sell my A/V stuff almost always local if i can.

No protection if you use Friends & Family (aka Gift) transaction. You pay the fee, not the recipient, and Paypal offers zero buyer protection (duh).

This is why many forums ban any for sale threads that request payment via "gift" transaction. I'm leery of those who say e.g. "$100 Paypal gift or +4% for fees." Just quote your price and pay for the Paypal transaction expense out of your sale price.

I truly hope this works out for you OP.

Re: feedback threads

Personally , I prefer forum subsections where buyers/sellers can create individual threads. Easier for mods (you can lock, hide, correct threads on a case by case basis), easy to search (instead of finding post #1234 in thread 567890, just find the three threads that mention user), etc. Just my 2¢.

Re: resolved

I like the idea of a dedicated thread, post in the thread.
Example.
Chromejob bought my svs subwoofer. Paid quickly +1
Or
Chromejob sold me an svs subwoofer.. Showed up with a hole in the cone. -1

In the first post of the thread you list the members and their ratings.
I'm not overly interested in sifting through a pile of different threads to read ratings.
Just my .02
Take it for what it's worth..
I'd even be willing to do the housekeeping of said thread..

I wasn't around to see how the feedback worked previously here and am unsure of why they stopped keeping track.. But it would be invaluable to figure out and implement another method.

Id like to suggest feedback rating be on the members profile page. It would keep people searching through pages of threads, just click the member who's selling and look at their rating. It seems it would be easy for AVS to just add a spot in the profile.

That would need to have some checks and balances to keep someone from giving a bad rating to someone they just butted heads with in forum. Keeps the morally challenged among us in check. I've seen some people do some very sociopathic things to others with regards to getting back for some perceived slight in person or online. Just saying. I like the idea of it though as long as the seller has some recourse to remove something done maliciously.

Ah, good news. Missed this message.

[Explanation: Tapatalk for iOS has a way of not showing you posts, but putting your new post at the end of the page even though there are older posts on the next page. It's confusing.]

I agree, being that the threads are always viewable, just have a classifieds tab in the profile with all sales by the individual. If you start a thread in the classifieds it automatically would go to that section. Keep the onus on the buyer, and keep some whacko from giving bad feedback.

I like that. The more transparency the better I say and I sympathize with both buyers and sellers. There's usually honest grievances with most transactions both ways but to me the seller should be the more professional/attention to detail type as inexperienced buyers money is just as green as the experienced one's and we were all first time audio buyers at one point or another. Oddly I grew up in retail sales but I've mostly leaned towards siding with the buyers although we've gotten the shaft sometimes as well as a seller. Not my first sales mgrs. favorite trait but he's long gone and I was still there.

It would be a great idea to implement a feedback score system for the bst forum. Just like eBay, or golfwrx for example.

agreed, and we have been pushing for this, but I am told it is not supported on this site yet....
so a thread like this should remain open for feedback: this thread is a powerful tool for the handful of transactions that do not work out (most do)

Maybe the thread title should be changed then to something like "Buyer/seller feedback" and the first post should show a format on how to rate a buyer/seller, like "buyer/seller name, product sold/bought, product condition, how fast was it shipped, condition, transaction smoothness, communication etc." then make this thread a sticky.

I hope you mean a new thread, not this specific one. At some point, since this thread is an issue that has been resolved, maybe it can be locked. Game over, issue resolved, move along folks nothing more to see. :} My 2¢.
