Projector Screen and Projector Compatibility

I am thinking of buying a VAVA UST projector. However, my current projector screen is a white screen material with a 1.1 gain. Would I have to change the projector screen as well for the UST projector.

No if the screen is fixed. UST projectors are much less forgiving than regular throw when it comes to waves/ripples.

But that kind of projector could use a grey/ALR screen.

I'd get a UST screen. They are designed to work with UST projectors and will optimize/improve the viewing experience. You'll get a more uniform image with very wide viewing angle and with better contrast and (perceived) black levels.
