Fabric and Roller Replacement

I currently have a Da-Lite Tensioned Advantage Deluxe Electrol screen with a serious rip in the fabric. It has a 106" screen and was hoping to order a replacement fabric and roller assembly. Had an AV company come out and tell me that it would be cheaper to just get a whole new recessed screen from Screen Innovations since they would have to take out the entire assembly anyways. I guess my question is...REALLY??? Why would Da-lite sell replacement parts if it's cheaper to replace the whole thing? Also, the screen was installed in 2008, so I dont know if that changes things. Just seems fishy to me that you can't just get the roller assembly and install it while the th iij ng is in the ceiling.

Why do you have to replace the roller assembly?

Da-lite parts list sells the fabric and roller as one assembly.

Not that bad

The screen came installed in the house I bought, so its not that bad. I dont mind paying $1500 for a fabric and roller assembly since i didnt pay for the initial install. However, i just find it strange that you need to take the whole case out and do all of these extra things, just to replace one part and that the job is cheaper to install a whole new screen. Granted the screen is 12 years old, so maybe the motor will die shortly and i'd have to replace the case anyway, but still, seems strange.

Also, would changing from the Da-lite to a screen Innovations series 5 slate 1.2 be a downgrade in quality?

Dunno, but I'd start a new thread asking that.
