HI there,

I have been using my X30 for the past three years and have never upgraded its firmware, can anyone advise me if there is any advantage in doing so? Thanks.

My advise is "if it ain't broke don't fix it"!!! Upgraded firmware for an old machine or any machine is relatively risky, specially when you don't have warranty to fall back on incase it bricked.

Jvc-dla-x30

Hi
I want to buy an old JVC-DLA-x30 from the unfamiliar girl. She says that he is working, only the lamp is broken. When enabled, it throws an error. This really is a error broken light bulb, or something else

STANDBY/ON burns red

Are you looking to buy or sell? I've got one with a brand new lamp that I was planning on putting up for sale soon.

EDIT: Sorry, just noticed your signature. I assume your looking to sell yours.

Might be tough to get that these days, hard to say. I haven't seen that many sell at all lately, last one I saw was around $600, about 3 months ago.

I haven't looked what they are going for now, but in Feb when I got my 520 the used 45s with new lamp were going for about $1000 plus/minus. I realize I might not be able to get that now though.

I'm more curious what a used 790 will go for 6 months from now.....

As a reference to the higher end of the scale, I bought my RS57 (X700) with 580 hrs on original lamp, plus it came with a new OEM JVC lamp in sealed box, for $1900 in Feb last year.

Really wanted the DI and glad I spent a little more (even though I was open to a RS45/46).

Admittedly I think I got a bit of a deal. Seller didn't put 'X700' (it's the same thing) in the listing, and I don't think many are familiar with the RS57 model as they are with the X500, 4910, etc., so probably less ebayers bidding against me...

Can anyone report back on it's performance after a few hundred hours of use?

I have 570 hours on the bare bulb that I paid $62 for.
It works exactly to SPEC as original, the lumens I measured were 3% higher than the past official JVC lamp (as in identical).

At 500 hours, the lumen loss was also near identical 17% on the bare bulb vs 22% on the old lamp at 500 hours.

That said, since it is a different seller (my seller no longer has stock), then you can never know for sure if it is the same lamp I bought, but most likely I would think it's the same one.

It is a little difficult to install in the housing, I ended up soldering it, though I could have wiggled it into the screw, I got tired of dealing with the tiny screws in a cramped housing and just soldered the last wire on.

I would recommend only using the v3 housing with the port hole in it, and make sure you always use HIGH ALTITUDE mode NEVER run this lamp in HIGH mode. Running this lamp in high is just asking for it to explode.

Both my original / official JVC lamps exploded. The first one was worse and exploded more thoroughly (at 1200 hours), the second one (v3 lamp) exploded at 2800 hours (rather cleanly with just a few shards of glass).

Thefore, I will probably change the lamp every 1500-2000 hours from now on, or soon after I see it DIM excessively. I did run my first lamp on high a bit, and my second as well. That was likely my mistake.

Thanks for the detailed reply codeguy.

My current lamp v004 is approaching 1000 hours and just recently anything less than aperture 0 seems a little dull so reckon it's time for a change.

If i can get good lamps at 80 bucks then i have no probs changing once a year.

High altitude setting is a bit noisy for my liking so will have to just take my chances.

Anyway, sounds encouraging so i will go ahead and order one

I need help. My X30 turns on and runs for 10 minutes, then the image becomes black and it does not respond to commands from the remote or the back panel. What can I do? Is it broken?

Did you try a different HDMI device + different cable in a DIRECT connection to the projector?

Did you try both HDMI ports when doing the above step?

Did the problem start suddenly out of the blue, did your projector work normally before?

When you say runs for 10 minutes, do you mean it works normally the first 10 minutes?
(is it exactly 10 minutes every time, did you time it, or does it vary slightly)

I have now 817hrs on that same bulb and it is still plenty bright!
I do not run it in High Altitude mode ever!
I watch plenty of 3D movies and full blown bright and have never had any problems with this bulb.
I have since gone through 4x ORIGINAL OEM bulbs and this is by far the best I have had as far as bulbs go.
They've lasted between 700 and 2100 hrs. None exploded.

To think I was paying over $500CDN for the OEM bulbs compared to less than $100CDN for this bulb.

Anyways good luck to you but I am completely satisfied with this bulbs performance so far.

That is also where I purchased the bulb, he has them in stock again for $73...
https://www.ebay.com/itm/JVC-PK-L221...72.m2749.l2649

I have almost 700 hours and the bulb is performing slightly better than both original JVC OEM bulbs (about 20% loss vs. 25% to 30% on my other 2). I just bought another for a SPARE BULB.

It wouldn't surprise me to get 2000 hours out of this bulb, but after that the risk of explosion goes up quite a bit with these darn Philips bulbs (and both my original bulbs were JVC official from JVC, but I've never had one of these other Philips bulbs explode from Ebay --- yet).

Funny thing is I've been having issues with Benq w7000 OFFICIAL Philips bulbs as well. They don't explode like on the JVC, they just start having color shifts in the gray scale in real-time (As in you can see the color acting up), then they just die and refuse to re-ignite. I did get over 4000 hours on one Benq bulb, but most of the time I'm only hitting 1k to 2k hours.

Hey guys been a while since I've been on the forums, just wondering if any of you guys can chime in. The other day my son and I decided to watch a movie all was well and picture was clear and bright then 5 min into we heard a mild pop noise and the unit shut down with both standby light and warning light on solid and lamp light flashing orange 3 times then pauses and continues like that, I'm assuming its some sort of code? Anyways I assumed just the bulb went bad and I got a spare one 6 years ago that came with the projector which I had never used yet, I popped it in and still same error. I took it apart checked voltage to ballast which is 384 volts until the lamp light begins to flash then drops to 0 and output to bulb with bulb in circuit was at 7.9 volts, so $372 dollars later I got a ballast, installed it and still same thing and my voltage readings are the exact same, no output voltage. Any suggestions? Is it possible my new spare lamp is defective not allowing the ballast seeing it therefore not applying voltage or did I get a bad ballast?
Thx

Manual's here with the light codes: http://www.projectorcentral.com/pdf/...anual_6515.pdf
See page 18. That specific case isn't covered. You sure you saw it right?
The lamp light blinking 3 times with the warning light on solid (but no standby light on) would mean the lamp cover is removed and they give some recommended actions.

Did you reset the lamp timer per the instructions in the manual? See pages 78-81.

What made you decide to change the ballast? You're probably best to contact JVC and have it repaired. It could be any number of things.

Yes the standby light and warning lamp are both on solid while the lamp light is flashing in 3 intervals. Yes I did reset the lamp timer, I replaced the ballast as I saw no voltage output and reading on the forums it seemed to fix the issue most times. I'm in Winnipeg and I can't find anyplace that will look at it.

That's normal. You need to contact JVC Canada directly. Electronics repair shops basically do not exist anymore, especially for highly specialized/complex computerized devices like this sort of projector (that's why nobody wants to touch it - I wouldn't want a 'regular' repair shop to touch my projector anyway! ).

My RS40 has had the same thing happen. I have a friend who is trying to debug it right now. It is all torn down and he is currently replacing a part on the ballast. I'm glad I read about you buying one and having no result. Mine is going to someone in Canada if this doesn't work.

Is you lamp light flashing three times then a pause then three time and so forth? Did you try a new lamp? Let me know what you find if anything. I will send mine out if I can't come up with any better diagnostics, running my tests it still appears to be a ballast problem. JVC sent me a log reader so I can hook up my laptop and gather the info via the ethernet port to see whats going on. I only have around 900 hours on this projector, approx $4.00 per hour of use, what a rip off, very disappointing.

Well it turns out my ballast itself was defective and all is working now, me being to tired and late last night didn't see when reassembling there was a lamp door micro switch at the very bottom and kind of hidden that senses when the door is removed and causing the issues I was having. I was testing it when the projector was still half apart, held a pencil against it and it fired right up. Now hopefully this ballast will last, also pretty easy to replace but pricey.

Hey everyone! I know this has probably been posted on here prior but I did not have time to run through the thread.

I have an RS45 that will not turn on as of today. I get 2 solid red lights on the outside and a flashing orange lamp light. In the last week or so I have noticed the brightness of the image has gone down significantly. So do you think this sounds like just a bulb needing replaced or something else?

Thanks for your time.

Uh-Oh. My RS40 did the same thing, although I don't remember that the bulb had been dimming just before it happened. Mine did it after it had been in the moving van with the rest of our furniture and electronics.

I just ended up giving it away.
